DOWNLOADED ATTACHMENTS IN OUTLOOK ANDROID APP

I downloaded the latest version of Outlook app from play store on my android

I was able to download the attachments from my mail and I cold open it from the outlook app 

But i am not able to find the files that I have downloaded in my sdcard or in mu internal memory

please anyone, help me.......

Hi Jerrin,

I appreciate the response. I am really sorry the above suggestion's were not helpful in solving the problem.  I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of the phone to check where the downloads are saved exactly.

I am experiencing he same issue, I have discovered that the files (in my case, a PDF file) is being saved to

\data\data\com.Microsoft.Outlook[remainder truncated], but it seems that folder is hidden or something, so I can't see the folder directly on the phone until I get around to investigating via my PC. I hope this kinda helps

The download process of Outlook for Android is not really downloading the file completely. As you can noticed that it's under the .tmp folder which stands for Temporary folder. This is to avoid eating up storage for your phone.

I have tried to replicate your issue and I found a workaround.

  1. Download the attachment from your email and open the file.
  2. Click the hamburger logo and select Save as. Then save it on your desired location on your SD Card.

That way it's not being deleted since it's not stored on the temporary folder.

    I found a solution.

    In the Outlook app for Android, I have 4 icons at the bottom of my Inbox:

    An Envelope, a Calendar, a File and a Person.

    If I click the File icon, it opens a new page in Outlook called "Files" showing all the attachments I've downloaded (but can't access outside of Outlook).

    On the right edge of the screen, there's a grey down arrow (a circle with a "V" in it) next to each attachment.

    If I click the grey down arrow, it gives me the standard "Open with" options, but at the very bottom of this list, I have a "Save to" option and the only choice under this section is "Device".

    If I choose "Device", it actually downloads the attachment (a second time, since it was already downloaded into Outlook's secret hidden vault or wherever) to my phone's Download folder where I can actually access it outside of Outlook!

    So that's the convoluted way to get it, even though I now feel I have 2 copies on my phone taking up double the space... stupid Outlook.

    reported it via the app and got the "known issue we will fix it when we know how to" line then they closed the thread.  I reopened it of course.

    I have more than 40 conversations in Outlook support for Android through my app on Android.

    Unfortunately Microsoft analysts do not understand what happens or they pretend they do not understand. 

    I already explained several times what happens but they insist that the downloaded attachment can be accessed 

    through the Downloads app in Android. 

    Yes, it can be done but the problem is that when trying to share the attachment by any other application on android, 

    the attachment is saved with the incorrect name. 

    The attachment is saved with the name DownloadFile-1, DownloadFile-2, etc. (only with the correct extensions)

    Just access the /data/data/com.android.providers.downloads/cache folder on your Android device (needs root permission) 

    to see that Outlook is saving the attachment with the wrong name.

    But in each support response they try to convince me that the application works correctly.

    They even tell me it's a free application and I would not have the right to complain so much.

    I think Microsoft's total lack of respect for their consumers, even more than I am of Office 365 Home subscriber.

    It is lack of respect and Microsoft incompetence, which can not develop an application for Android.

    And what I realized these chats I had, is that Microsoft does not care a bit about what's going on.

    Well folks that's it.

    In short: We are waiting for a miracle and good Microsoft's will to solve the problem,

    because the Outlook for Android , it becomes useless.

    Any other android email client app works correctly, with the exception of Outlook for Android.

    Microsoft should ask Google experts to teach how to build an application for Androd. 

    It would be better than to publish an application that lets users angry and wasting time 

    with this useless application that is with Outlook to Android.
