Mac Outlook 2016 - Import Contacts

I can't find a straightforward answer on this, so hoping you can help. I want to import a list of contacts in Excel (Mac 2016) into my Outlook (Mac 2016) contacts list. This used to be easy, but I cannot find the functions to do this now. Is this another functionality Microsoft has stripped from Mac Office or is there a way to do it?

You can't import it straight into Outlook, but there is a way around this:

• Export from Excel to a csv file.

• Import the csv file into the System Contact app (it should be fairly

straightforward, especially if all fields are properly labeled).

• Select all contacts there and drag them to the desktop to create a .vcf

• drag the .vcf into the address book where you want them imported in

Outlook.

That should do the trick.

    Hello Cortig,

    I tried your method but wasn't succeed so far. May I ask a few following questions : 

    • Your .VCF was a file or a set of multiple files ? To me it is just 1 file naming Kahuna & 995 others.vcf . FYI I exported the contact list from native Mac Contact app. 
    • I couldn't drag the .vcf file into Outlook though I tried so many times. I am using Outlook 2016 and my Address Book is a button on the right, not on the far left as you guys mention. I'm not sure if we are using the same UI. Could you please attach any screenshot locating the position I should drag the file into ?

    Okay, it works but it is a HORRIBLE  process.  I have 500+ contacts and dragging on a track pad is daunting...to put it mildly.  Please Microsoft/Apple....there has to be a better way!

    Office for Mac 2016 doesn't allow Export as a TXT file as it did in versions 2011 & 2004. I find this TXT file helpful for exporting Contacts so I can then import them to my iPhone. Will this option be added back to Outlook? The OLM file export is a safe backup, but other programs don't read OLM files.

    The contacts list wouldn't have to be empty. I would guess that the repeated contacts may be due to a miss-translation or duplication of info when you combined the lists. I don't think the cvs list will transfer by dragging or importing them in...but the vcf files will. I exported each of my contacts (out of Entourage) as vcf files. Then copied them to my new computer. I selected all of the vcf files and dragged them into my address book of the new Outlook.
