New Outlook.com (Hotmail) sign-in page : Autofill/Autocomplete not working?

Today a new style of sign-in page appeared for Outlook.com (Hotmail) — and autofill/autocomplete doesn't work for the e-mail address field!

I have several e-mail addresses, and until now I've only needed to enter the first letter to get the dropdown list. Now there's no dropdown list. I have to type the full e-mail address each time I sign in. As I often switch between accounts, and you have to sign out of one to be able to sign in to another, this loss of autofill is very frustrating and time-wasting.

It's not a browser-related problem: it happens in 3 different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE).

It's not computer-related: it happens on 3 different computers.

It happens only with the Outlook.com (Hotmail) sign-in. On other websites, autofill still works for e-mail address fields.

I can only assume that Microsoft's developers have blocked autofill/autocomplete on this new sign-in page. If this is a deliberate choice, then why? It's extremely annoying and time-wasting. If it's just a mistake, I hope that MS will correct it very quickly.

Has anyone else discovered the problem?  Does anyone have a solution or a workaround?

In the meantime, I see you said "**The above worked for me ... so you may want to give it a try." Does that mean your autocomplete is now working? (and with the 'old' Outlook.com, rather than the new Outlook Mail? — not that that should make any difference.)  Did they do a fix just on your account?

    Cherche,

    Sorry for the confusion.

No, auto-complete does not work for me.

When I said "the above worked for me" .... I meant that the follow-up response (that i described in my previous post) to the email I initially received when I opened a case with the Answer Desk (using the steps I listed) resulted in my case getting escalated  .... hopefully to someone at Microsoft who has the skills to reproduce the problem and forward it to the proper development team who will fix the problem.

So "the above" referred to my response, and "worked for me" referred to my case being escalated.

Note that if/when Microsoft ever fixes this problem, it will be fixed in the sign on page and everyone using the sign on page (regardless of new or old outlook interface) will benefit from the fix.

I think the more complaints that Microsoft receives, the more likely (and more timely) they will fix the bug. So use the steps I provided to open a case .... and be prepared for a (mostly useless) scripted first reply (email) similar to the response that Dale described. Respond (email reply) to that initial response by clarifying the problem (as I described in my previous post here) .... asking that they (Microsoft) reproduce the problem ... and asking that your case be escalated.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for clarifying, Langware.

    OK, I'll do that shortly.

    Cherche,

Did you ever get a chance to report the problem (I.e., auto-complete not working in the new Microsoft Account sign on page) using the steps I provided?

If so, did you get a response?

    Hi,

We appreciate your time and effort for getting back to us.

I suggest you to refer to the following response created by J.M.H. (MS-MVP) on I find it just annoying that I have to put my e-mail in every time. I WILL NOT stay logged in and check if it helps.

Also, refer to the following response created by ZigZag3143 (Windows IT Pro MS -MVP) on **Autofill disabled on new Microsoft login page**.

    Hope the above information helps.
