New Outlook.com (Hotmail) sign-in page : Autofill/Autocomplete not working?

Today a new style of sign-in page appeared for Outlook.com (Hotmail) — and autofill/autocomplete doesn't work for the e-mail address field!

I have several e-mail addresses, and until now I've only needed to enter the first letter to get the dropdown list. Now there's no dropdown list. I have to type the full e-mail address each time I sign in. As I often switch between accounts, and you have to sign out of one to be able to sign in to another, this loss of autofill is very frustrating and time-wasting.

It's not a browser-related problem: it happens in 3 different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE).

It's not computer-related: it happens on 3 different computers.

It happens only with the Outlook.com (Hotmail) sign-in. On other websites, autofill still works for e-mail address fields.

I can only assume that Microsoft's developers have blocked autofill/autocomplete on this new sign-in page. If this is a deliberate choice, then why? It's extremely annoying and time-wasting. If it's just a mistake, I hope that MS will correct it very quickly.

Has anyone else discovered the problem?  Does anyone have a solution or a workaround?

Microsoft could easily fix this problem. All they would need to do is change the "autocomplete" parameter (in the sign on page's HTML code) from "off" to "on".

Since they will not make that simple change, those who do want autocomplete enabled in the sign on page can make that change ourselves.

If you are using Firefox as your browser, and feel comfortable installing a free Firefox add-on, then see my May 11, 2016 post in this thread. Once you install the free Firefox add-on (Greasemonkey), you will be able to run the script I listed that will set "autocomplete" to "on" when you open the sign on page.

If Jesinta Rozario were to read this thread, it would be obvious that the problem has already been reported via the UserVoice site, and furthermore that Support Cases have been opened with MS Support. "The concerned" already know the requirements. Suggesting that we start again at square one isn't helping anyone!

I am in the market for a new tablet/laptop.  I was considering a Surface.  Thanks to this answer from Jesinta Rozario, I will no longer consider buying a Microsoft product.  If MS developers can't handle a simple issue like this autocomplete bug, I dread to think what garbage they may have built in to their more complex products — and clearly if this level of disinterest and incompetence is typical, it would be impossible to have any confidence in Microsoft's support capabilities for purchased products.

I find this to be totally unacceptable, as I am sure every user does.  Why can Microsoft not take the advice of suggestions given, as in "langware" below? Why? MS owes us answers, since they cannot provide service.

Forgive the drive by but it seems you are all spending far more time trying to get Microsoft to bend to your will than it would take to fill in the new log in page.

IF Microsoft decides to deal with it (and I doubt they will) they will when they are good and ready.  Microsoft does not "owe" you anything.  You are using their system and your choice is to deal with it or move on.

There are valid reasons why they are changing and just because you do not see them does not make them any less valid.

Is it really that onerous to have to fill in you UID & PW?

Seriously, deal with it or use something else.
