Changing display name in Outlook.com

Hi! 

Originally this account was under a different name which I have changed. But it does not appear when people email me. How do I change this name???

To get a better clarity about the issue, please provide the details below:

  1. How do you access Outlook.com?
  2. Do you use Internet Explorer to access Outlook.com or any mail app?

3.When you say "it does not appear when people email me" are you facing issue from your end or the people who are sending emails to you?

Meanwhile, If you want to change the profile name for Outlook.com, please follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to http://profile.live.com/ .
  2. Click on edit and save it.

Once you update the profile name correctly, Outlook.com will appear the correct name display.

Hi There,

I was having the same issue with my connected gmail account but I managed to solve it.

  1. Go to outlook.com
  2. Go to settings on the top right hand corner.
  3. Go to Accounts -> Connected Accounts
  4. Click on Gmail address and click edit, you can then change your display name there.

    I spent less time on the following than I did trying to get Microsoft to change the name on my outgoing emails:

    • Copy all files from OneDrive off OneDrive
    • Copy all contacts from Outlook.com

    -Save all emails form outlook for the account

    • Create and set up new account
    • Share Office 365 with the new account
    • Add new account to my family
    • upload old files to new Onedrive account
    • Add old contacts to new account
    • email all contact notifying them of the email address change
    • remove old account from Microsoft family

    This is literally an option by name on other email providers. This is one of the most simple tasks for any avenue of providing accounts. How the hell can M$ get it wrong?

    If the contacts I'm dealing with didn't expect an Outlook address for reasons and didn't need OneDrive, I would have loved to just start over on gmail.
