Changing display name in Outlook.com

Hi! 

Originally this account was under a different name which I have changed. But it does not appear when people email me. How do I change this name???

To get a better clarity about the issue, please provide the details below:

  1. How do you access Outlook.com?
  2. Do you use Internet Explorer to access Outlook.com or any mail app?

3.When you say "it does not appear when people email me" are you facing issue from your end or the people who are sending emails to you?

Meanwhile, If you want to change the profile name for Outlook.com, please follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to http://profile.live.com/ .
  2. Click on edit and save it.

Once you update the profile name correctly, Outlook.com will appear the correct name display.

Hi There,

I was having the same issue with my connected gmail account but I managed to solve it.

  1. Go to outlook.com
  2. Go to settings on the top right hand corner.
  3. Go to Accounts -> Connected Accounts
  4. Click on Gmail address and click edit, you can then change your display name there.

    I have the exact same issue.

    Top right corner in the outlook.live.com/owa still shows my old name, clicking it gives me the "Edit Profile" link which redirects me to profile.live.com which shows the correct new name. I've logged out and in a few times. Also tried changing skype details. I've waited a few hours.

    Is there any Microsoft support people here to actually help?

    I have the same problem. I have an error in the displayed name. I have changed my profile name and it shows the correct name at the top right of the Outlook Live window but the email still sends under the old name. Does anyone have a solution to this?

    My email sender name shows Microsoftonline.com Team even after I change it to Gakire Bob at profile.live.com.
