Changing display name in Outlook.com

Hi! 

Originally this account was under a different name which I have changed. But it does not appear when people email me. How do I change this name???

  1. How do you access Outlook.com?
  2. Do you use Internet Explorer to access Outlook.com or any mail app?

3.When you say "it does not appear when people email me" are you facing issue from your end or the people who are sending emails to you?

Meanwhile, If you want to change the profile name for Outlook.com, please follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to http://profile.live.com/ .
  2. Click on edit and save it.

Once you update the profile name correctly, Outlook.com will appear the correct name display.

Hi There,

I was having the same issue with my connected gmail account but I managed to solve it.

  1. Go to outlook.com
  2. Go to settings on the top right hand corner.
  3. Go to Accounts -> Connected Accounts
  4. Click on Gmail address and click edit, you can then change your display name there.

    Hi,

    This issue frustrated me for a long time.

    However it was solved any by the method from the user "ahmd0" about three posts up.

    It didn't work the first time and took some quick refreshing but I found I had to "prevent the page from making cookies" the clear all the cookies and quickly refresh the page.

    You'll know if it works when you have to fully signin and enter your login details, it will then pull the new account information (and correct account name) and save it. 

    If it just reopens your inbox it didn't clear clear all the cookies (I think there is some hidden ones that instantly reset themselves and you need to get in before these do) and youll need to try again.

    I am using Outlook.com email in Google Chrome or Firefox.

    I just want to change my display name.  This should be dirt-simple.  I can't do it.

    I have tried everything here and more.  I have clicked every item that could possibly make sense.

    This is a failure on the most basic level.

    Why is it impossible to change my display name?  I can change it for....my account?..or is it skype?...what?...

    does it want me to change it in the email account i used for recovery?  it linked that account?  why?  it belongs to a relative.  i dont have access to that.  why did it link the accounts?  it was just the recovery mail.  

     I just want to change my display name for Outlook emails!  This is insane!
