Hi ...I have my 3rd party mail account configured to my outlook.live.com . The mails have been synced and so did the folders(including sent items) , however whenever i try to send mails from outlook.live.com ,using the account which i configured , the mails are sent without any issues but the mails are not saved in the sent items of my outlook.live.com.  I then checked the mail settings of my 3rd party provider and they do have the settings set properly for saving all the messages to sent items."Copy Email Messages to Sent Items When Sending Mail:" - is set to always. Appreciate any inputs to fix this problem.

Thanks

The way I see it, if you have a connected account configured to use POP (or IMAP, for that matter), then your outgoing mail isn't using Outlook.com's SMTP server to send the message. It's using the connected account's SMTP server, which means the Sent folder on that remote service should have a copy of the outgoing message. Your Outlook.com mailbox won't even see the outgoing message and, hence, won't have a copy in the Outlook.com Sent folder.

    1. What's the point in offering a "connected account" service then ? and
    2. Why did this feature existed for years (since hotmail) and has now been removed? and
    3. Why do all other webmail clients (GMail) save outgoing email for connected accounts?

    > What's the point in offering a "connected account" service then ?

So that you can aggregate the contents of other mailboxes into a single mailbox. What I would expect is that when you use the connected account for outbound messages, the connected account's Sent folder will retain the outgoing messages, not the Outlook.com Sent Items folder.

    > 2) Why did this feature existed for years (since hotmail) and has now been

Connected accounts is a new feature. Hotmail did not have it.

    > Why do all other webmail clients (GMail) save outgoing email for connected

    > accounts?

So, you've tested all other mail services? Quite a feat.

Oh please, do we really have to go this way?

Since I started using Outlook.com (in the summer of 2015), I could find the sent messages of my connected accounts in my sent items box, inside Outlook.com. No problems there. But since Microsoft changed Outlook.com into Outlook Mail (a few months ago), this feature was removed. These are facts.

So 'connected accounts' is not a 'new' feature (as you stated). Unless you consider something that was already there for more than a year ago, is still a 'new' feature.

And of course it makes no sense using Outlook Mail for connected accounts, when you need to open (and log in to) another mailbox every time you want to see your sent items. It's not logical, it's not handy. At least not for the end user.

And of course that's what counts. Not your technological approach of this issue, about what a tech person would expect.

So, Microsoft ruined a good service with the update from Outlook.com to Outlook Mail, and the Microsoft people in here (like you), who are supposed to help customers, are attacking them instead. Or at least being sarcastic, without the intention to help.

I'm very confused about this and I don't like it. At all.
