outlook.live.com Sent mails not saved in Sent items

Is this thread still alive? 

Haven't you all moved to GMail already? I have and let me tell you i AM HAPPY!!! 

All emails sent from any of my connected, interconnected, crossconnected, missconnected and disconnected (lol) accounts are nicely saved and I haven't lost a sent email since moving over!!!

Following this discussion, I went back to outlook.com today and it seems they have added a few more options, such as "manual email configuration" and adding a "send only connected account" options (assuming you can forward emails from your original account and use outlook.com for sending only).  GREAT!!!! 

I thought I give this a try and see if my sent emails wont perish in the ether and get saved in sent items. 

This is what happened when I tried a send-only account: 

1. "Please wait. we are importing (?!?) your mail" ... for a send only account? OK. Lets say they've kept the generic message...as long as it works....
2. Once done, I went to send an email. Choosing the "From" address in the email composition drop-down gave me my (at)live(dot)com address.....twice! No trace of the newly added send-only address....
3. Went back to the Connected accounts set up screen to change the default "from"address. Didn't work as newly added address wasn't listed. Logout/login/refresh...same....

After this, I tried the "Connecting a non-microsoft account via IMAP" exercise thinking something may have changed. Tried both options: 

1- "Create a new folder for imported mail, with subfolders like in the account you connect" and 

2 - "Import into existing folders, such as Inbox, Sent items, ....."

(not sure if both options imply you will lose your sent items anyway...lol ?!?)

No joy.....

Why doesn't Microsoft and their tech support people stop beating about the bush and openly state that , as a service, their free email client (outlook.com) does not support saving outgoing emails from connected accounts? I think I mentioned in another post elsewhere that one of their tech support staff mentioned that saving sent items is no longer supported. Please, Microsoft, just be open and honest about this and save everyone (including yourselves) hours of meaningless talk and frustration....

Yes, **if you create a POP account and UNCHECK "Leave copy of the messages on the server" box during the setup process, you outlook.com DOES SAVE the email in sent items!!!**However email synchronisation cycles of 30 minutes are unacceptable nowadays. When I tried POP connection, I had instances where last sync was over 1 hour (yes, the email server was completely fine, as my desktop outlook 2016 retrieved email without an issue in the meantime). Their POP sync seems to be riddled with issues, too...

If it did I would never have spent an inordinate amount of effort trying to make this useless new upgrade work as well as its predecessor.....lol.

Yes, I'm using POP settings for my connected accounts as well.

It seems the only way that works for now.

Perhaps these additional settings inside the mailbox of your connected account could help you to prevent it from flooding with incoming emails sooner or later:

• Check the box that says: 'Forward my email to' and insert the outlook.com or hotmail.com address you are using
• Uncheck the box that says something like: 'Save a copy of my messages on this server'

(presuming you have these options in your connected mailbox of course)
