outlook.live.com Sent mails not saved in Sent items

Hi ...I have my 3rd party mail account configured to my outlook.live.com . The mails have been synced and so did the folders(including sent items) , however whenever i try to send mails from outlook.live.com ,using the account which i configured , the mails are sent without any issues but the mails are not saved in the sent items of my outlook.live.com.  I then checked the mail settings of my 3rd party provider and they do have the settings set properly for saving all the messages to sent items."Copy Email Messages to Sent Items When Sending Mail:" - is set to always. Appreciate any inputs to fix this problem.

Thanks

The way I see it, if you have a connected account configured to use POP (or IMAP, for that matter), then your outgoing mail isn't using Outlook.com's SMTP server to send the message. It's using the connected account's SMTP server, which means the Sent folder on that remote service should have a copy of the outgoing message. Your Outlook.com mailbox won't even see the outgoing message and, hence, won't have a copy in the Outlook.com Sent folder.

    > It has become worthless because it does not save outgoing mail.

Have you checked the Sent folder in the remote mailbox, not Outlook.com's Sent Items folder? That's where it should be, since you're sending it though that service. I would expect the remote service to retain messages sent through your mailbox there.

Make sure your connected account is POP and not IMAP, then. IMAP's whole purpose is to make sure the remote mailbox and the local copy look exactly the same at all times. Any change you make on one will be synchronized to the other.

I agree completely with Bryan. It has become worthless because it does not save outgoing mail. Furthermore I want the mail that is retrieved from my timewarner account to stay in outlook on line once its transferred. However if after  my outlook has sync'd and I delete the mail from my time Warner acct, it is deleted from outlook, that is just wrong. I want outlook on line to be my mail folder were everything is retained. It was until some time in the 4th qtr of 2016. This is unbelievable that they changed it and simply do not respond with real fixes.

The "solution" always worked on Outlook.com. The upgraded version on outlook.live.com only does what you say with POP3 and not with IMAP (unless it has again been updated and "fixed."  Once your url has been identified by Microsoft for live.com you no longer can get outlook.com.  But, I got so tired of trying this a year ago through a hundred different "solutions" I just switched back to POP3.  IMAP does not save in your Outlook folder, just in the original server (which it does not seem to tell the server to do so).  Therefore, you have no sent mail.  Since the biggest reason to even use Outlook is to avoid the original server, why bother with it.?
