outlook.live.com Sent mails not saved in Sent items

Hi ...I have my 3rd party mail account configured to my outlook.live.com . The mails have been synced and so did the folders(including sent items) , however whenever i try to send mails from outlook.live.com ,using the account which i configured , the mails are sent without any issues but the mails are not saved in the sent items of my outlook.live.com.  I then checked the mail settings of my 3rd party provider and they do have the settings set properly for saving all the messages to sent items."Copy Email Messages to Sent Items When Sending Mail:" - is set to always. Appreciate any inputs to fix this problem.

The way I see it, if you have a connected account configured to use POP (or IMAP, for that matter), then your outgoing mail isn't using Outlook.com's SMTP server to send the message. It's using the connected account's SMTP server, which means the Sent folder on that remote service should have a copy of the outgoing message. Your Outlook.com mailbox won't even see the outgoing message and, hence, won't have a copy in the Outlook.com Sent folder.

    Thank you Brian for your continued attempts to help.

    Yes,  sending  via POP that is where my sent mail displayed.

    With IMAP, no. My gmail account is set up with IMAP and not even the email address displays.

    But the sent mail appears in the Outlook sent folder and I've never had any trouble with it.

    And having said that, I am now wondering if the issue is actually with the ISP of my other account

    rather than Outlook. It is a New Zealand ISP which is changing from its service through Yahoo to a NZ

    management. The settings I entered are based on their current online settings

    Anyway,  after changing the account several times yesterday - back and forth from IMAP to POP with no

    success, my mail is finally departing - sending - and appearing in the Sent folder - and again it is after I entered the POP settings. 

     For some reason though, I am not able to enter the outgoing server port given by the ISP for that account (465), 

    and I thought that might be why I have been having problems. It reverts to 587 every time.

    However as it is now working despite that, maybe the port number wasn't the issue.

    My gmail account details do not appear at all in the folder list but I am able to send mail without any problems

    and it appears in the sent folder of my Outlook folders.

    If you have a connected account in your Outlook.com settings and it is connected via IMAP, I would expect to see a set of folders underneath the folder representing the connected account and the server's Sent folder to be there, not in the Sent Items folder of the Outlook.com folder set.

    You would think so but as with so many of Microsoft's "improvements" the fix screws a good thing up. They should revert back to how it was before the latest update.
