Outlook 2016 for mac, email reply greys out screen

I am having an issue on Outlook for Mac ver. 15.26.1 running OS Sierra

When I have Outlook in "full screen" mode and an email opened in a window and hit "reply" the entire screen goes semi-grey and when I click anywhere on screen it gets rid of the grey but it minimizes the email window.  I can click on the minimized window to bring it back up and then it's fine, but it's seriously annoying and slows down my efficiency and productivity.  This only happens when I have the email opened in a window and hit "reply".  It does not happen when I just select the email from the inbox and hit reply from the tool bar.  Anyone else having this issue?

    Norbert,

    Then I might have misunderstand. I usually open all my mails in a seperate window (max screen), like double clicking on the email from the main window (on the right). When I push the "reply button, a new window appears in which I can compose my answer. This all works fine on my MacBook.

    Now you state the issue might occur in a different situation I somehow don't seem to be able to reproduce. When I reply form the preview pane, it works. If I select the email in the "main window" (the list of emails on the right) and press reply without opening the email first, it also works. 

    I am now curious about the issue, there still is. Can someone please tell me detailed how to reproduce the issue? Then I can check and confirm, it's there still with me (or not)

    The case when replying from message window (message open in its own window) was fixed, but we are still investigating the case when replying from the main window. 

    Hello John,

    I have updated to the newest release (fast forward), but in any case the replying window disappears after becoming grey.

    I'm a little bit nervous...

    Hello VincentDerksen. Thanx for clarification. Yes I am on 10.12.1 and it is still defective. In fact as I am working among the people with ca 6000 mac's, I am one of seldom to have such issue. So will maybe try to reinstall office overall.

    Dear VPW,

    I am disappointed to hear so. I actually didn't do anything special to solve this issue. I installed the updates and checked whether it worked (with my fingers crossed though). I could not recall doing something else also. 

    I guess you are already on Mac OS: Sierra 10.12.1?
