We understand your frustration over this matter. I would suggest that you download and use Windows Live Messenger. Once you are signed in to that mail client, click your name on the upper right corner of the page -- it will show you the number of places you are signed in, then click sign out from everywhere. In addition, it is highly advisable to frequently change your password.

NOPE !

First of all, you should have put a link in for WLM.  Secondly, when I went to microsoft.com, it tried to download WLM for a 64 bit machine (this is XP here).  Finally, I found the link for WLM, and I downloaded the XP version.  Immediately upon starting it, I remembered why I dumped it the last time - there must have been 25 spam requests to friend me.  And each one had to be dealt with individually, with NO, then block, then report as spam, then are you sure.  Cmon.  This is not rocket science.

How did ******@-o-o-o-.com get my hotmail address?  Just guess it?  I dont think so.

FINALLY, I was left with my WLM.  I told it to make me invisible, but it changed my mind for me.  Each time.  I sign in, and I go to my name.  My only choice is "sign out from here."

Is this an XP thing?

Then I go look at options.

Again, MS has set up this product to be considerably NOT SECURED.

Automatic signin when I connect to internet as default?

So I have "show me all other places I'm signed in when I sign in" checked

So I signed in from another IP address.

I get NO notice when I sign in here.

So despite my excitement, this DOES NOT WORK, or I am doing something wrong.

I am sorry if I wasn't specific enough on my last post. I stand corrected. However, please understand that it was written in consideration of a more "generalized" situation when a laptop got lost - that is where browsers are normally closed. In fact I've reproduced your steps and came up with the same results:

1. I signed-in to my account on Computer 1, then left the browser open
2. Signed-in to the same account on Computer 2, then changed the password
3. Got back to the currently signed-in account on Computer 1 and I was still able to access it without any prompts at all whatsoever
4. Refreshed the page on Computer 1 and still the page appeared accessible

I just have to emphasize here though that I easily changed the password because I personally know it. So given a real situation where a "third person" doesn't know anything about your code, he would really find it tough to crack in.

Essentially, this is an area where our Product Group has to work on so I have forwarded the details to them. You may also send your Feedback personally by filling out this form. Please be certain that your comments would be considered as it helps them improve Hotmail services.

Lastly, you could actually request for a copy of the IP login history of your account. You just need to post this in the Microsoft account forum as it is best addressed there.

I am sorry for the confusion. As with the case of a Hotmail account configured on a device (iPad), it has to be manually removed or in your case broke a connection to interrupt syncing. This is due to the nature of how an email address is being configured on a mobile phone.

On the contrary, please be assured that this is quite different with laptops as Hotmail is being accessed using a web browser. So provided that the laptop user did not set to auto-sign to his account then everything's safe.
