Lost/stolen iphone - how to log out of Hotmail remotely

I am sorry for the confusion. As with the case of a Hotmail account configured on a device (iPad), it has to be manually removed or in your case broke a connection to interrupt syncing. This is due to the nature of how an email address is being configured on a mobile phone.

On the contrary, please be assured that this is quite different with laptops as Hotmail is being accessed using a web browser. So provided that the laptop user did not set to auto-sign to his account then everything's safe.

I just did the same thing with two computers

Log into hotmail computer 1

Leave browser open

Go to another computer

Log into hotmail computer 2

Change password computer 2

Log out hotmail computer 2

Log into hotmail computer 2 to verify new password

Go back to computer 1 and send / receive email

This is a problem.  I am dumbfounded that microsoft does not have

IP logon list to review issues when there is a question of hotmail hack

Drop all hotmail signins whenever I get paranoid

I dont understand why this feature is not present in hotmail.  It offers a lot of security and no downside.

to protect the users of hotmail and the other various microsoft log-in products, like this forum.

My wife just called me to tell me that she thinks that someone is reading her email at a place where she might have left the browser open.  How are we supposed to fix that?

Changing your password will prevent the account from staying signed in on your lost or stolen iPhone. The feature that you're looking for (log out all session) is no longer available in Hotmail.

Please be informed that when you change your password, the system will redirect you to sign in page and enter the new password. In this way, it will break any connection and prevent "if someone" has tried to access your account on your lost\stolen iPhone.

It doesn't work. I had my hotmail opened on my ipad. Subsequently I changed the password but I am still logged on my ipad. I can get emails and can even send out new emails. 

I used a laptop of a client to open my hotmail & forgot to sign out after the meeting. Now, I can't call the client as it will show distrust on my part & even then I won't believe the client. This is ridiculous. I got hotmail sometime back and now I don't want to change my email but these sort of lack of feature makes it a backward system. Gmal has this feature. Furthermore, Ryniel you are a moderator of this community and i would have expected a proper response from your side or atleast you should accept the fact that hotmail doesn't have any solution for it. However, you are misleading which is pi**ing me even more.

Are you suggesting that on I-Pad is a unique case and on laptop the hotmail connection will be broken?

Because, this is what I did and it didn't work:

1. I logged into hotmail on my I-Pad as well as my Laptop
2. I changed my Hotmail password on my Laptop.
3. I logged out of hotmail on my latop
4. I logged in again to hotmail on my laptop with new password.
5. Now, I tried to send an email through my IPad (even though I had changed the password). I was succesfuly able to send email & recieve emails on I-Pad for full day i.e. next 5-6 hours without being prompted for a change of password.

6. I came home at the end of day and now my I-Pad reconnected with a new network. This time I was prompted for a change in hotmail password.

Atleast for I-Pad if you change password on laptop you can continue to work on existing session on I-Pad unless your network connectivity is broken. If this is not the case for laptop I'll be glad.
