Cannot login to Outlook due to error "Something went wrong.."

Original title: Outlook LIVE (outlook.com) "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later".

I have a custom domain running Outlook LIVE through outlook.com.  I've had an old passport account which has been with me for a long time but didn't used to have email associated with it.  I recently updated it to have email enabled, but I'm not able to login to outlook live with that account.

How can I get around the "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later" error, or determine what the problem is?  I waited about a month but I'm still having the same problem.  I would really like to get email onto this account since it's the account I have all of my other things (xbox, phone, win8) pointed to.

    For the past week I too have had the same problem. I cannot get my emails.  I have very important messages I need to retrieve. It looks like no one really knows what has happened. I have tried all you have suggested and nothing is working, Please is there any update or fix for this. I NEED THOSE EMAILS!!!!! 

    Do not reply to the Hotmail email because it don't work.

    I have the same issue for two days now. I cannot login, I used two computers with two servers, home and in my office.

    I had to clear my browser history and it worked again. Hope it works for you. Good luck : }

    I'm having the same issue.  I can access to all of my hot mail account from my phone (internet based Hotmail) but from the PC.  I have recently downloaded the outlook on my phone in order for me to receive my work email to my phone.  Is this something to do with the issue that I have now?
