Cannot login to Outlook due to error "Something went wrong.."

Original title: Outlook LIVE (outlook.com) "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later".

I have a custom domain running Outlook LIVE through outlook.com.  I've had an old passport account which has been with me for a long time but didn't used to have email associated with it.  I recently updated it to have email enabled, but I'm not able to login to outlook live with that account.

How can I get around the "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later" error, or determine what the problem is?  I waited about a month but I'm still having the same problem.  I would really like to get email onto this account since it's the account I have all of my other things (xbox, phone, win8) pointed to.

    I understand your concern and will certainly help you with the issue.

    I suggest you to log into through https://www.outlook.com  and check whether you are able to log into your account.

    I also recommend you to create an alias and then make it as primary alias and check if it helps.

    I get the same error over different computers and different browsers.

    I have deleted my cache mutiple times and made allias which also gives the same error. Even the windows live mail, outlook app or mozilla thunderbird can't acces my mail.

    Other outlook accounts I have work perfectly fine.

    I'd like to know if you have any other solutions because so far nothing has worked and I really need to acces my mail ASAP.

    I am having the same problem, too, with one of my four computers -- a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet running Windows 8.1. Issue has been going on for over a week. All the other computers (Lenovo desktop, Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2, ASUS eeeSlate, all running the same OS) can access just fine.

    Help!
