Cannot login to Outlook due to error "Something went wrong.."

Original title: Outlook LIVE (outlook.com) "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later".

I have a custom domain running Outlook LIVE through outlook.com.  I've had an old passport account which has been with me for a long time but didn't used to have email associated with it.  I recently updated it to have email enabled, but I'm not able to login to outlook live with that account.

How can I get around the "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later" error, or determine what the problem is?  I waited about a month but I'm still having the same problem.  I would really like to get email onto this account since it's the account I have all of my other things (xbox, phone, win8) pointed to.

    Hi Roman,

    To get a better clarity about the issue, please provide the details below:

    1. Since when are you facing the issue?
    2. When you log into your account does it say Outlook.com or Outlook Email/Mail at the top left corner?
    3. Are you facing the same issue with other account as well(If you have any)?

    Meanwhile, I suggest you to check the status of your account by following the link below and check if it is up and running.

    1: I am facing this issue for pretty much exactly 24 hours by now.

    2: The URL that returns the error is https://outlook.live.com/owa/?wa=wsignin1.0, the name of the page is "Outlook Web App".

    3: I only have this account.

    The status of my account is up and running. Mail over IMAP works fine, only outlook web access is broken for me.

    /edit: never mind, it started working again
