Cannot login to Outlook due to error "Something went wrong.."

Original title: Outlook LIVE (outlook.com) "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later".

I have a custom domain running Outlook LIVE through outlook.com.  I've had an old passport account which has been with me for a long time but didn't used to have email associated with it.  I recently updated it to have email enabled, but I'm not able to login to outlook live with that account.

How can I get around the "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later" error, or determine what the problem is?  I waited about a month but I'm still having the same problem.  I would really like to get email onto this account since it's the account I have all of my other things (xbox, phone, win8) pointed to.

Thanks

Unfortunately, changing the password hasn't helped with my account.

I was told it was being escalated to Tier 2 support, but again nothing has happened.

Is someone actually looking into this?

    Thanks

I think I have found the solution after going through the same problem again and again. Actually, Outlook.com has a feature that requires you to change password after every 72 days. (You tick this option when you set your password). So, if you don't reset your password, the website says "Something went wrong and we cannot log you in right now. Try again later"

Follow these steps and you're done:

    1. Clear cache, delete history and close browser. Open it newly. (This is just to ensure that all your log-in attempts are logged out completely)
    2. Go to outlook.com and click 'Can't access account'
    3. Choose and follow reset password steps (This is the only significant thing that you do carefully!)
    4. You're able to sign-in with your new password!

    hope this helps...

Btw, except for 'common-sense' shown by service team, Outlook.com is awesome!

I have investigated your account and it appears that your account is currently inactive. Please try to contact your domain admin about this issue.

Thanks for taking a look, unfortunately this is incorrect.  I am the domain admin and all of our other domain accounts are working great.  At some point this one was moved from just a Live (Microsoft) Account to have email capabilities.  However, the mail portion has never worked.  This account is used for all of my billing use (or xbox.com, etc), except then when I try to log into outlook.com (or even other live.com assets) I will receive this error.  This account is not the domain admin account although I once was going to use it for that, which is why it might be confusing (i.e. domains.live.com shows an old domain registration there because this isn't the admin account for the domain).

There is something wrong with the way this account is registered, and based on how the URL redirects about 10 times while trying to login to outlook.com before failing it would appear there is something in an invalid state.

Can you please take another look?  It would appear that your above investigation is incorrect.

    Thanks
