Organizing and accessing contact information in Outlook.com
Same issue for me as well. This is disappointing. I've been casually trying to fix this for a year, but it's sad to see no one else is having any luck still.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
I called Microsoft's 800 number for technical support and they say that the only support is Microsoft Community.
The Microsoft representative says that this is the only forum or place to get help. Are there any Microsoft employees who can help me with my Hotmail/Outlook.com issue?
I am not able to delete contacts from my Hotmail/Outlook.com account. (And, yes, I have cleared my cache, I've got the latest browser versions, the issue is the same on multiple computers with various browsers.)
Can ANYONE help me???????
(Original title: hotmail/outlook.com won't let me delete contacts, what do I do?)

I made the mistake of allowing my live.com email account to access my Facebook, google and linkedin contacts. Now I cannot delete a contact from Outlook because it is still in one of these other accounts.
Not only this, but even if you remove the connection to FB/Google/LinkedIn, the contacts remain. There seem NO WAY to remove them from the list anymore. This is ridiculous. And there are posts about this from 2013. The issue was never addressed by MS.
I made the mistake of allowing my live.com email account to access my Facebook, google and linkedin contacts. Now I cannot delete a contact from Outlook because it is still in one of these other accounts. Outook (live.com) does list where the contact is imported from. In my case I want to delete an email address that was imported from Google and Linkedin. I went to Google and Linkedin contacts to delete it. I did delete it in Google contacts but I still can't figure out how to get rid of it in my linkedin contacts, I guess that is why I can't get rid of it in my live.com account contacts.
I get in a hurry and accidentally select that old email address for the person and then they never get the email because they don't check that account anymore. The auto fill feature brings it up, I see her name and select it not looking at which email account I have selected. This is why I want to delete that old email address from all my accounts but I can't figure out how to do it.
It is to the point now that I am going to quit using my live.com account and when I start a new email account, I am not going to import contacts from anywhere else. Then I am going to delete my live.com account. Too much of a hassle with no support.
Thanks for this. But just to confirm, MSN messenger contacts in my address book, does that mean I have to log into messenger to delete them?
For some reason contacts with a picture icon I'm having more trouble to delete then those without pictures, so I thought that had something to do with the source potentially being messenger.
This is all quite new to me so sorry if its a silly question
This entire Outlook/Hotmail "upgrade" of July 2016 is a disaster.
LESS SECURITY: Mail and address copy pop up new windows behind other windows, leaving info for stealing when you close session.
REMOVAL OF FEATURES: Searching no longer has found-folder info, rendering it totally useless.
Can no longer advance from current mail item to the next mail item.
Working within email is ten times slower than before, on nearly every operation.
TOTAL FAIL.
