The title asks it all I should hope.

I've searched around, but everyone asking about how to remove it are only complaining about not wanting to see ads without paying.  I have paid, and just wonder if the area that once showed the ads can be removed.

Hi JeremiahLee85,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community forum. Yes, you may remove the gray bar on the right side of your Outlook.com page. To do this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Open your Inbox.
  2. Click on the gear icon or the cog wheel located at the upper right part of the page beside your Profile name.
  3. Choose More mail settings.
  4. Under Reading email, click Content from third-party networks.
  5. Under Showing public content, choose Don't show public content from third-party networks.
  6. Click Save.

Should you need further assistance, please feel free to post back.

Thank you.

From Falconfeathers...not part of Microsoft but a customer who is hoping Microsoft reads and examines complaints when so many share the same view of your "New Outlook".

WHY DON'T YOU PUT THE ADS ACROSS THE BOTTOM SO WE CAN SEE FULL WIDTH OF OUR EMAILS WITHOUT USING THE SCROLL BAR BACK AND FORTH FOR EVERY LINE?

I posted March of 2013.  Today is May, 2014...and nothing has changed.

Over and over you explain the same thing...this annoying gray bar which extends the entire height of our e-mail...and hogs the right hand side, forcing our messages to be only partly viewed...and forcing us to scroll across the page to read each line, yet with all the requests for help...and the ridiculous post which describes...how to get rid of it.....which obviously does absolutely nothing....and then the personal request for us to send you a screenshot when you absolutely know that everyone has the same view with ads hogging the right side of our email...All this...and a year later...you still have done nothing.

I know this is supposed to be your method of providing free e-mail...by using ads.

What you are doing instead....is pestering and annoying and completely ignoring your customers' opinion........and look how many are requesting help with this...and again a year later, and nothing changed.

    Yes, you explain.

WHY DON'T YOU PUT THE ADS ACROSS THE BOTTOM SO WE CAN SEE FULL WIDTH OF OUR EMAILS?

Thank you Falcon Feathers - I couldn't have said it better.  These idiotic canned 'greetings' and responses are simply annoying.  I applaud volunteerism, but not when it's useless.  This nonsense of "send us a screenshot and we will answer in secret' goes against the whole idea of a help forum.  Why send ANY solutions in a private message?!  This is a help forum!  I use the search button to find help!

No help to be found for this right-hand gray bar it seems.  On a small screen, it makes Outlook.com unusable.

It has been several months since I asked this, and just got a reply ...not from the ones who are supposed to help us...but from a customer with the same concern..asking for help.

    Half a year ago...

I figured out how to go in and disable the ads from "third parties", but still this huge gray bar uselessly hogs the entire right side of my emails...squishing everything.

The bar is MICROSOFT options or ideas....

We cannot get rid of it...one response from microsoft told me that. (yes 3rd party ads vanish..but you insist on keeping this for Outlook.com...description of options offered by Microsoft.

IF YOU INSIST ON KEEPING THIS MICROSOFT OPERATIONS/OPTIONS AD BAR...GRAY BAR SO PEOPLE CAN SEE THE DIFFERENT OPTIONS YOU OFFER

    THEN

WHY ON EARTH DON'T YOU MOVE IT ACROSS THE BOTTOM...

SO AT LEAST WE CAN SEE THE FULL WIDTH OF OUR E-MAILS AND JUST SCROLL DOWN FULLY.

I refuse to upgrade to Hotmail Plus.  I have spent many months..almost a year now since you first changed me to Outlook.com. I had so many problems...never seen anything like that working invisibly...forcing people to keep seeking help...WITH SO MANY UNNECESSARY CHANGES. OUR ORIGINAL HOTMAIL WAS.........FLAWLESS.

When you first changed me before Christmas, I had the option to change back. I gave it a very very fair chance but there were so many problems..like..where on earth is the printer   .  .  .

    Yes...3 dots..when everyone else uses the universal symbol...that brilliantly...happens...to...look...like...a...printer.

....that is if they can figure out how to find...Outlook.com... (You have 3 different programmes named outlook...OUTLOOK.COM, OUTLOOK EXPRESS...AND OUTLOOK THAT COMES WITH THE MICROSOFT OFFICE.
