Exchange ActiveSync won't sync contacts on Android

Hi,

I've been having a problem with Exchange ActiveSync on my Android phone. Calendar and E-mails sync fine without any problems. However, my contacts won't sync properly. My contacts sync the first time I set up my account on my phone using Exchange ActiveSync but afterwards if I make any changes or add new contacts on my phone then it won't sync to Outlook.com. The same situation arises if I modify or create a new contact on the web at Outlook.com; I don't see these changes being synced to my phone. 2-way syncing is not working for my contacts.

I have removed and re-added my Outlook account on my phone multiple times but the problem persists. I am using a Nexus 4, running the latest version of Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1

Can you please fix this?? It is extremely annoying and inconvenient. I don't want to use the Hotmail or Outlook apps since they are very limited in functionality and a big battery drain on the phone.

Thanks.

    Hi,

The account WON'T synchronize out of the box! You will receive a mail from Microsoft stating that you prefer not to use the Outlook app - and to use a third party app you have to open a link. Click on that link, it will unlock your mail client for the synchronization of your MSFT account data

Ridiculous, I found that solution on a blog after spending hours of resetting accounts, re syncing contacts etc...

    I hope this help!

    Dear Raymond,

Almost similar to TheOne-RajaBabu, I can not sync my hotmail with my phone anymore. Out of the blue this stopped working. I have a hunch it is regarding the m.hotmail.com mobile exchange server. When connected to Wifi I am able to sync my phone, all folders, contacts etc are working great. However, when on the go with a 3G or H+ connection running the Exchange service does not work at all. Other accounts on my stock email app are doing fine. Pop3 that is but it works.

I've tried several options, accessed my hotmail through the webbrowser and found the dub-server running my account. Changing the Echange server address from m.hotmail.com to dub-m.hotmail.com unfortunately did not work. I am having this problem already for several months and I am running out of idea's.

    Can you help?

    Phone: SGS3

    Android 4.0.4.

    Email: ******@hotmail.com

    Many thanks

    Hi Raymond_M,

I tried a different account on my phone and that seems to work fine. I had no issues with 2-way syncing of my address book. My e-mail address that does not work is ******@live.com

Can you please fix this? Thanks.
