I reported two phishing scams to Outlook by clicking on the drop down "report phishing scam" in the Outlook mail app. Where does the phish e-mail go and is it reported to the genuine company, in this case a bank? Also, why can't a suspicious e-mail be forwarded to a reporting agency without opening it and exposing my computer and possibly my contact list to the bad guys?

The above is a lot of what our USA cousins would call something starting with B and ending with t. See below for what actually happens:
First, once an email address is reported, we ignore it which encourages these scammers to to continue their activities. Then we have a cup of coffee :)

That is not a helpful response.
It would be helpful if it actually explained HOW TO "Look at your email header then find hosting and domain provider and report them"
If people already knew how to do all that, it is unlikely they would bother to post here.
I receive at least 3-5 emails a week in my junk folder for a Fed Ex or other phishing scam. I can block or report them as a "phishing scam" but I continue to receive the same scam from different email addresses. All say they are sending me money or I have a Fed Ex package to pickup. Best ones are the Nigerian ones.
Obviously they are using a spoofing system or random address generator. I would think that Microsoft could compile this information and report this to the government so these scammers can be stopped or minimized.
I shudder to think how many people, especially the elderly, fall for these scams every day and are being bilked out of their money.
Microsoft should be trying to do better to control this epidemic....at least reporting these scams to the FTC or FBI.
Microsoft did not create this problem but they are sure allowing it to multiply and bear some responsibility.
Maybe if someone that got scammed and lost a lot of money filed a lawsuit against Microsoft for allowing this scamming to continue Microsoft would take notice and do something.
