When phishing scams are reported to Outlook what happens to them?

I reported two phishing scams to Outlook by clicking on the drop down "report phishing scam" in the Outlook mail app. Where does the phish e-mail go and is it reported to the genuine company, in this case a bank? Also, why can't a suspicious e-mail be forwarded to a reporting agency without opening it and exposing my computer and possibly my contact list to the bad guys?

    Please do post anything that might be useful. I do not see how MS can possibly object, since they so obviously don't give a flying one about SPAM, themselves.

    Most of mine go into my junk box and only about 1 or 2 maybe, a day in my inbox. I'm so sick and tired of them. No sooner do I get them all marked and blocked and more coming in. This is BS.. I've been marking them for months and all the same ones but they are still coming in

    Microshaft have made that bit clear - blocking an e-mail address will only see e-mails from that address sent to "Junk" instead of "Inbox", it won't stop them coming.

    That's their idea of "blocking" - completely at odds with the rest of the world. To you and I, "blocking" means never hearing from that particular person / address ever again. To Microsoft, it just means "send the messages to a different folder. Idiocy...

    MS can easily relieve users of most of their spam they're receiving by implementing a fewsimple steps:

    1. If the address the e-mail is coming from doesn't match the address in the "Sender" field (ie: "spoofing"), don't allow the message to proceed - and block further e-mails from the originating address.
    2. If a user filters out e-mails by a word or phrase, that filter should apply to all folders.
    3. If a user blocks an address or domain, no further e-mail from that address or domain is delivered. Not just sent to a different folder - not delivered, period.
    4. Allow users to block "top domains" at their own discretion, rather than give them the "will impact a large amount of messages" excuse. If the only e-mails I've ever received from a domain have been spam / phishing, I won't be missing anything by blocking it. 

    Those steps alone would block the majority of spam you receiver, but MS won't do it. 

    Not "can't - "wont".

    I have blocked and blocked and blocked and still get the same junk emails  something is NOT working..

    This may be a dumb question... but are your spam emails going into your inbox or your junkmail box?  

    I receive about 30-50 spam/fishing emails per day, but 98% go to my junkmail box.  A Microsoft tech told me (after a couple months of going back and forth) that you cannot do anything about these junk emails going into your junk folder.  

    Also got the same spiel about marking all junk as phishing, and they'll eventually stop coming.  Don't know if I buy that...
