When phishing scams are reported to Outlook what happens to them?

I reported two phishing scams to Outlook by clicking on the drop down "report phishing scam" in the Outlook mail app. Where does the phish e-mail go and is it reported to the genuine company, in this case a bank? Also, why can't a suspicious e-mail be forwarded to a reporting agency without opening it and exposing my computer and possibly my contact list to the bad guys?

    Don't blame Microsoft or wait everything from them.. Look at your email header then find hosting and domain provider and report them..

    I agree. I have to check my junk, as legitimate emails are also sometimes sent there.

    Reporting a phishing scam should do more than send them to junk, it sayes you are protecting others from scams-but these explainations make it sound unlikely. Many phishing scams look legitimate, and I get sick of searching for scam reports before reading attachments (or not), repeated reports of the same scam should be registered, and more proactive actions taken

    i report as phishing  scam from my junk... as i even try to keep my junk as cleaned up as possable... but (denise T) above, says; and i quote ; 

    "Please be informed that once an email has been reported as Phishing, this email goes to your Junk Folder" .....

    confused here........ but i also thought i was doing good by  pressing that magical button.. wont bother in future.
