The statement about requiring login via browser is not true. Any type of login is acceptable and the timeinterval is 365 days, not 270.

I had this same thing happen to me, I'm sure I haven't logged onto it in over a year. I need to acess it to be able to acess other accounts any help would be greatly appreciated!
If it has been over a year the data is gone. You may be able to create a new account using the same email address.
What happens when you try that?
I need help! When logging it it says my msn account does not exist. But when trying to recreate my account it says my account is part of a reserved domain. Going insane... I need to get into this account to recover the password of the account that has my kids photos. The account is under ******@msn.com
It sounds like you are out of luck. Your @msn.com address is gone and Microsoft is not allowing any new addresses ending in @msn.com. This is why it's important to keep more than one copy of something important to you.
