I seem to have a Virus in my email that is sending me spam emails from my own email address.
I use a chrome book so it doesn't have anti virus to sweep with.
I can't block the emails as they are from myself and hotmail says i am in my own contacts. I have changed my email password and there are no forwarding addresses but it is still happening.
What should I do?

Actually that is incorrect. They should stop allowing non microsoft mail servers sending email sourced with a microsoft mail address.
It would not prevent legitimate mail from being sent and received.
The only way I've been able to handle this is to check those spam-to-yourself emails as a phishing scam. Eventually, I stopped getting more than one a month. Very annoying.
If I get any unrecognized emails, I send them to junk and hover over them to see what actual email address they came from. If they don't look right, I mark them as phishing scams. Used to be able to do that on the primary email page, but Outlook changed and won't let me do that anymore.
All this takes time, but it's better than getting hacked....

Lets all take a step back. I think we all acknowledge their is a shared responsibility when we use the Internet and any of its services, like email. I don't want to place all the burden or blame MSFT, but they don't even have a security team that is easy to contact.
I have been dealing with these issues for 3+ years. I had to send an email directly to Satya (MSFT CEO).
That initially got a response, but nothing since then.
My personal issue started with MSFT allowing spammers to spoof their microsoft-security-annouce alias.
Now its spoofing my own email handle.
When does MSFT have responsibility to help prevent these issues? I am guessing we are all users of MSFT services to be on this forum.
