Hotmail Virus sending me spam from my own email

I seem to have a Virus in my email that is sending me spam emails from my own email address.

I use a chrome book so it doesn't have anti virus to sweep with.

I can't block the emails as they are from myself and hotmail says i am in my own contacts.  I have changed my email password and there are no forwarding addresses but it is still happening.

What should I do?

    Hello,

    For other options in managing spam emails, you can create email rules to place the spam emails to a certain folder. You can then delete the contents of that folder periodically. Kindly check on Nathan Robert's article for creating rules in Outlook.com: (click here).

    I started having this problem to a small degree after inserting my USB disk into another person's laptop. Came home and started getting all kinds of junk mail from illegitimate sources, including some from my own email address. And I have a couple of anti-virus programs on my home computer. I just mark them as 'Phishing scam' and delete. What else can be done?

    Either way, I wish Microsoft would take this seriously and do something about it! I get approximately 10 of these stupid emails from myself a day and it's REALLY annoying. Obviously it's been going on for over 4 years with no sort of solution. Shame on them!!!

    Lets all take a step back.  I think we all acknowledge their is a shared responsibility when we use the Internet and any of its services, like email.  I don't want to place all the burden or blame MSFT, but they don't even have a security team that is easy to contact.  

    I have been dealing with these issues for 3+ years.  I had to send an email directly to Satya (MSFT CEO).  

    That initially got a response, but nothing since then. 

    My personal issue started with MSFT allowing spammers to spoof their microsoft-security-annouce alias. 

    Now its spoofing my own email handle.  

    When does MSFT have responsibility to help prevent these issues?  I am guessing we are all users of MSFT services to be on this forum.
