How do I permanently disable MSN chat in Outlook?

I never wanted to be able to use the MSN chat while checking my emails. I was able to disable it via hotmail but now this option is gone. The only thing it lets me do is turn invisible. It doesn't let me log out of the chat without that also logging me out of my inbox. Please fix this or let me know how I turn the chat feature off without resorting to an ad blocker. Thanks!

We apologize for the delayed response to your concern as we are now having a high volume of support request from customers. We appreciate your effort in sharing your thoughts to our feedback page.

Rest assured that Microsoft is reviewing what customer's have posted there to consider the features that should be added in the new Outlook interface for product development. Currently, we don't have an option to turn off automatic log in to Messenger, you can just turn your profile as "Invisible" while checking your emails.

Your patience to this matter is very much appreciated.

    EDIT:

    Workaround:

    Add the below line in hosts file  (%systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)

    0.0.0.0      geo.gateway.messenger.live.com

    Unfortunately it seems that the workaround is not working anymore. Any help with this, please?

    I want to have control of msn/skype sign in... or else... goodbye hotmail/outlook

    As what my colleagues previously mentioned, at the current design of Outlook.com, there is no option and feature that will let you disable the Outlook.com web messenger.

    You are advised to post your recommendations to **Outlook.com feedback page** so our product team could review it.

    In this topic we have read over and over for a year now that there is "currently" no option to disable automatic messenger sign-in and that you have, over and over again asked people to submit feed backs and suggestions and some have already stated that they have sent them to you.

    Can you at least look into this issue and tell us if there is at least any consideration that this issue will be dealt with or at least if someone in the development team has this issue on her/his job list so that we can finally look forward to a "disable chat" feature being made available at some point in the future?

    I understand your frustration with regards to being unable to disable Outlook.com messenger upon signing-in to your account. 

    The feature you are inquiring about is really a great idea and would be a nice feature to have. As what my colleagues mentioned on this thread, the best way for you to have this feature in the future is to submit your suggestions to our feedback page.
