How do I permanently disable MSN chat in Outlook?

I never wanted to be able to use the MSN chat while checking my emails. I was able to disable it via hotmail but now this option is gone. The only thing it lets me do is turn invisible. It doesn't let me log out of the chat without that also logging me out of my inbox. Please fix this or let me know how I turn the chat feature off without resorting to an ad blocker. Thanks!

Hi CarolineASD,

We apologize for the delayed response to your concern as we are now having a high volume of support request from customers. We appreciate your effort in sharing your thoughts to our feedback page.

Rest assured that Microsoft is reviewing what customer's have posted there to consider the features that should be added in the new Outlook interface for product development. Currently, we don't have an option to turn off automatic log in to Messenger, you can just turn your profile as "Invisible" while checking your emails.

Your patience to this matter is very much appreciated.

Thank you.

    Hi RicardoDamm,

Thanks for your feedback. We are always evaluating ways to improve Outlook.com to serve customer the best web mail experience. As what the previous moderator said about how to turn off Skype messenger, this is possible by switching to invisible status on web messenger.

Hence, turning off the Skype messenger permanently is impossible with the current design of Outlook.com. However, If you think that this feature you are inquiring about might be a great feature to have we highly encourage you to submit a feedback by going to this link.

Please let us know if you have more questions.

    Thank you.

Allow people to disable Skype and Messenger while in Outlook.

    Done.

    That simple.

    The sooner the better, please!

Please, at least try to think outside of the narrow range of cut and paste responses which you and your colleagues continue to regurgitate without a trace of embarrassment.  I'm inclined to think you're all just bots ... but definitely not cleverbots.

I came to Outlook.com to escape the clutches of Google.  You know, how they force Google+ down everyone's throat, the YouTube disaster they are stubbornly ploughing on with.  So, I came here and now I'm getting Facebook and Skype in my face.  I do not DO Facebook.  Because I'm a Web Dev and I know what goes on, and that this current obsession with sharing and linking EVERYTHING we do on line has ruined the internet.  Seriously.  It is the simplest matter for any code monkey, myself included to have a one click, permanent opt-out for the offending items.  Jeez, you're Microsoft and you don't know how to do that.  I'll tell you what, set up a remote desktop session and I'll do it for you, no charge.

You are abusing people by simply cutting and pasting the same trite and tired responses time after time after time.  And you are abusing them by lying to them by saying these annoyances cannot be simply opted out of.  But then, you aren't really people are you.

    Your patience is highly appreciated.

    Thank you.
