How do I permanently disable MSN chat in Outlook?

I never wanted to be able to use the MSN chat while checking my emails. I was able to disable it via hotmail but now this option is gone. The only thing it lets me do is turn invisible. It doesn't let me log out of the chat without that also logging me out of my inbox. Please fix this or let me know how I turn the chat feature off without resorting to an ad blocker. Thanks!

We apologize for the delayed response to your concern as we are now having a high volume of support request from customers. We appreciate your effort in sharing your thoughts to our feedback page.

Rest assured that Microsoft is reviewing what customer's have posted there to consider the features that should be added in the new Outlook interface for product development. Currently, we don't have an option to turn off automatic log in to Messenger, you can just turn your profile as "Invisible" while checking your emails.

Your patience to this matter is very much appreciated.

    Problem solved. I no longer use MSN Outlook. Gmail lets you turn off chat.

    Officially more than 2 years now since the initial post. And the issue was around before then I am sure.

    So. Nothing is happening then? Please do not regurgitate the "give feedback" message.

    You must surely have some kind of superior in charge who can actually talk somebody at Microsoft?

    It's not even just the chat thing, the fact that people can CALL ME whilst I'm at work checking emails is just annoying.

    I wont get angry because the mods are just doing their thing.

    But I really do think you mods should actually take it up a level and just send our queries on to somebody who has some kind of power.

    Everybody has a boss, and bosses can normally speak to people in other departments.

    Please get on it, it;s killing me.

    This makes no sense. They were responding to another user in regards to a workaround for a feature that Microsoft refuses to amend. What exactly is your reply supposed to mean? Did your company not already know that users have been asking to have MSN removed from their EMAIL SERVICE as an automated feature?  Have you seen how old this thread is, as well as others requesting the same? Are you thanking them for finding out about this workaround so that you can change it and force MSN on us again? Honestly....
