How do I permanently disable MSN chat in Outlook?

I never wanted to be able to use the MSN chat while checking my emails. I was able to disable it via hotmail but now this option is gone. The only thing it lets me do is turn invisible. It doesn't let me log out of the chat without that also logging me out of my inbox. Please fix this or let me know how I turn the chat feature off without resorting to an ad blocker. Thanks!

We apologize for the delayed response to your concern as we are now having a high volume of support request from customers. We appreciate your effort in sharing your thoughts to our feedback page.

Rest assured that Microsoft is reviewing what customer's have posted there to consider the features that should be added in the new Outlook interface for product development. Currently, we don't have an option to turn off automatic log in to Messenger, you can just turn your profile as "Invisible" while checking your emails.

Your patience to this matter is very much appreciated.

    It seems the best way to disable the chat feature is to find another email provider, something which I'm looking into now as a result of this. Permanently forcing us into a chat program is an INVASION OF PRIVACY!

    Oh, before any MS staff waste their time with the predictable, useless cut & paste response, I've saved you the trouble. Here it is!

    How many times are we to suggest this feature before you people start listening? It's been posted time and time again. We do not want this feature. I've suggested it on your feedback page. I know others have.

    Stop referring us to post in your suggestion section, it's insulting when it's obvious nobody is listening to the users. Do you really think we are that easy to get rid of?

    I am too pissed about this feature I have never requested - I use Skype to chat.

    Please copy-paste the code below and remove the stupid chat in my e-mail box:

    IF (disable_chat == true) {

      ShowSomeMessageThatUserCanTurnOnChat();

    } else {

      Add the existing chat code between these lines.

    }

    I have to admit it is beyond me why this feature does not already exist, but okay. I have submitted a suggestion.

    Could you please tell me what I am supposed to do in the meantime? I never even wanted outlook and now I am forced to use it, and in the process it is once again logging in on msn for me just because I check my emails. I JUST want to check my emails. Is there any way to do that?

    I admit I am starting to get REALLY pissed off at this. Every so often the problem resurfaces and I once again have to try to figure out how to disable automatic msn. Stop force-invading my email-privacy. Let me check my emails in peace.
