Another issue since the downgrade to outlook is that not all emails display correctly. For years I've been receiving a weekly email from a travel company which displays their 'photo of the week'. As soon as my account changed to outlook, the email has arrived blank, but there is no notification to say the image has been stripped. I was about to write to the company to advise there was a problem with their newsletter; good job I didn't as I subscribed using my gmail account and hey presto, the email image displays perfectly. Come on Microsoft, don't tell me you can't even do a simple thing like display a small image in an email properly. I'm also still having daily occurrences of 'we can't connect to outlook at the moment', and yes all my browsers are optimised, etc etc.

What is it with you guys?

This service just gets worse and worse and worse. Now it usually (but not always) refuses to upload PDF files - we're talking files <200k here. The appalling sluggishness I can just about endure but this is about the last straw.

CHECK THE BL**DY LOGS on my account and you'll be able to see the repeated failures on the uploads. The same files can be sent via Skydrive - and of course via Gmail, which works properly.

Unfortunately having used HM almost since it's inception my email address is so widely propagated that changing it is a major PIA. But that's what I, and thousands of others, are going to have to do.

FIX IT, FIX IT, FIX IT, FIX IT, FIX IT, FIX IT, FIX IT, FIX IT, FIX IT

Would PLEASE help? If so PLEASE FIX IT!

    Hi Roy,

We appreciate your efforts in letting us know your personal experience in Outlook.com. Let's see what we can do to help.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Outlook.com had intermittent problems lately which caused some email features to run slow.

Just recently, the technical team launched a fix on this issue. Please check the status of your email server if it is up and running.

Let us know if you need more help.

    Best regards,

The latest bug is that it's becoming nearly impossible to upload even small-ish PDFs.

As for the preposterous boilerplate response, "Let us know if you need more help"

Well, I'd like to be able to use this application with the degree of reliability that Hotmail used to have. I see no signs of this being anywhere near fixed in the near future.

    EDIT

This is becoming beyond all belief. The application barely functions in either Chrome or IE10. It repeatedly fails to attach PDFs as small as 150 k. Regenerating them at different sizes makes no difference. The same attachments upload to SkyDrive successfully, if slowly.

    Check the ***** LOGS!

    Hi Roy,

I understand that you are also experiencing latency and navigation issues. I'd be glad to assist you on this matter.

Thank you for providing additional information regarding your concern. Please be informed that the reason why we are asking you to try to use other browsers/computers is not only to exhaust the possible troubleshooting steps but to isolate the issue as well so that we can facilitate our next actions.

We recognize that this issue was due to misconfiguration of network. Incorrect network settings were rolled back to restore the service, though.

We had a server maintenance and it should be fixed now. However, this issue has been continually reported and we have received replies and feedbacks from users that it has been resolved by simply deleteing their browser's cache & cookies and by upgrading their browsers to the latest version. Some did not experience the same issue anymore when they tried to use other computers and/or browsers.

Please confirm if you already tried to optimize your browser to make sure that it isn’t contributing to this issue. This will also serve as an initial troubleshooting step to improve browser performance. After optimizing, re-launch your browser and check if you encounter the same problem.

It is also highly recommended that you upgrade your browser to the latest version. To get the best browsing experience for SkyDrive, People and Outlook.com, please refer to this link.

Now, if the above solutions did not seem to work for you, kindly provide the needed information on the Private Message area (these were asked by Dhenz S.) so that we can have a deeper look on this. Click on "You have a private reply to this message" link just above your post to view the message (page 2 of this thread). Please make sure that you are signed in to your Microsoft account to be able to see it.

Your patience, cooperation and understanding on this is highly appreciated, Roy. We look forward to working with you to resolve this issue.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Jeffrey_T

I'm fast reaching the point where only anger and rudeness seem like appropriate reactions. Whilst I'm about it, why can't you supply page links on these threads so that we don't have to step laboriously (and slowly, naturally...) through successive pages?

I read your email instructions on how to assist Microsoft (FOC, naturally) in debugging this application. To be generous I assume it was written by someone whose first language isn't English. Then I tried the link to download FiddlerCap. I thought the server was dead for a while, but it wasn't (something of a house style).

Then I looked at the instructions and groaned. Time was I used to get paid for this stuff. Right now I'm disinclined to work for free.

Now you must have hundreds, probably thousands (and possibly an order of magnitude more than even that) of people suffering identical problems. The configurations of their systems, whilst variable, must have innumerable common features. But you still, with all MS's resources, haven't managed to run this problem down. This is odd since elsewhere I note that you claim to have found and "rectified" associated server problems. Personally I'd say the problem has actually got worse.

Again, within a small circle of personal acquaintances, I know of two other people experiencing IDENTICAL problems. This likely implies a HUGE number of people in the same situation, worldwide.

This morning I launched IE 10 (v. up to date) and it took forever to load my Outlook account. Once loaded I could access the content of emails, which is more than I could do in Chrome.

The situation with Hotmail/Outlook migration is simply a DISGRACE for a company like Microsoft. I'll give it about a month before I bail out and use my Google accounts exclusively.

EDITED: here's a suggestion. Take a look at the interaction with tracker blocking utilities (Abine in my case).

EDITED some more. Now this junk-ware won't manage to attach a 300Kb PDF file in either IE or Chrome.

    Roy
