Why Does Outlook automatically log me in without my email address and password?

Hi there,

Why does Outlook automatically log me into my Email without me having to type my email address or password?  When I turn my computer on, I go to my Desktop and click on the Outlook icon to open up my email.  It is logging me into that email without me even having to enter my password information, and quite frankly, I find this very unsettling. This means that anyone who uses my computer once it is turned on, can access my email without my permission. How can I correct this so Outlook asks me to enter my email address and password each time I want to log into my email?  Thanks.

Annette Sullivan

You have that option already. Simply log out of your Microsoft account when you're done visiting Outlook.com and you'll always be prompted for credentials the next time you visit the web site. Make sure you do not check the box to remember your credentials.

If you mean the website Outlook.com, then the next time you visit and are finished, click your name at the upper right and choose sign out. The next time you wish to log in, you'll be asked for credentials. Make sure you don't check the "Keep me signed in" box.

If the credential fields get filled in automatically, clear the forms data in your web browser.

Read my post from September 17 with detailed instructions about Trusted Devices. It's halfway up this 6th page of replies.
