Why Does Outlook automatically log me in without my email address and password?

Yeah, I have the same problem. I don't understand why the e mail automatically logs on when I start Windows 8. So far I have been unable to figure out how to make it stop doing this. I would guess there is a way but I have not found it yet.

So I don't use the outlook e mail at all, except to come here and complain.

My real e mail account that I use for everything everyday is an account at thexyz

It works fantastic and would never use Outlook again, and I don't.

Here is something else, MS encourages you to make all these Outlook e mail accounts, but did you know that you CAN'T close them once made?

So why is that a problem?

Here is why.

If you are ever targeted for harassment or worse, you can't shut your outlook e mail off.

You are helpless to get it closed down.

And if you are ever hacked into you are really in trouble.

Also if you should ever get locked out, you have to wait 30 days to get back in to it.

(if you can get back into it)

If you are using Outlook for important work or business, you are really in trouble.

It is MSNs dirty little secret they don't want you to know about.

Just read the posts here and see what people are going through because of this.

I would never use MS e mail for anything, ever again.

So you're saying to create separate logon accounts for everyone, including a Guest account?  That's a pain...and it still doesn't solve the problem when I logon with my own credentials.  Not to mention, how many users are not technically literate to even create those accounts?  Microsoft must have code automatically passing MSN account data to any and all MSN "services." They can fix that.  And what makes them think their consumers want that anyway?   It doesn't matter whether I provide a Win8 logon password, Outlook still doesn't always require a password.  I did change the setting to allow me to logon without having to provide a password; that works well.  But still, when my MSN homepage appears, I click Outlook, and sure enough, I'm not prompted for a password.  And yes, when I logoff Outlook and return to the MSN homepage, I do click "sign out."  I sign off/shut down my laptop every night, and when I return the next time, yep, all I have to do is click Outlook, and it opens my e-mail account.  Like someone else said, anyone who uses my laptop would have access to my Outlook account. 

Microsoft should have left Win8/8.1 strictly for mobile devices.  Using a laptop, my sidebars constantly appear without my cursor even being in the vicinity, the screen constantly shrinks or expands, and my cursor bounces all over the place by itself.  But the auto logon to Outlook...that's annoying.  And like others said, where's the security in that?!  Sounds like all of us with Win8/8.1 should nix our Hotmail/Outlook accounts and use another mail service.

That is a nice answer, but don't solve my problem.

What causes Outlook to automatically log on when I start my computer?

What button do I use or where do I go to shut this off and keep it from happening?

Vista never did this, just this 8.1 mess I have now.

BTW I still can't get my Outlook shut off yet after trying for 16 days now.

MSM Support has proven to be useless in getting Outlook e mail shut off.

After 40 E mails between MSN support and me, NOTHING.

Now they have even closed my case and told me to start over with a new one.

What a waste of time.

I need to know what i can do to make it be like windows 7,click on  and type my username and password.Not everyone that has windows 8 has this problem and they don;t have to create anything else,what can i do to make it work,do i have to uncheck or delete something?

Create a separate Windows user account for others to use or let them use the Guest account.
