I actually reached a MS chat person about this problem.  It took a bit for them to understand the problem and seemed a little mystified (and maybe annoyed that I will not use IE/Edge). She took over control of the computer and this is what she did.  In Chrome

• she cleared the cache history (I had done that back 1 month).  She also cleared all cookies and passwords (argh!!!), she may have changed the alias on my Outlook account.  I am not sure about the last thing - she mentioned it - we looked at them - but I had to turn away from the monitor for a minute.  Then - she wanted to restart the computer.  I couldn't do it at that moment.  I ended the chat.  However - when I restarted the next morning - I tried my Outlook account in Chrome and VOILA! I had it back.  It still does not work in Opera.  But I haven't cleared cookies and passwords.  

So - interpret this how you will.  I have subsequently re-set Chrome to save passwords and it is still working 24 hours later.

I am pretty sure it has to do with Security Settings (Tools, Internet Options, Security)*. I had to use the lowest (security) settings against my better judgment to get into my Outlook (hotmail) mailbox. 

I don't have any problems when I use my Opera browser (exactly what I'm using right now) or when using Firefox browser. (I haven't checked my Chrome yet since it eats a lot of memory)

Anyway...

I put my security settings (on my IE browser) back on Medium-High and wham... when I refreshed the page, I got the same old message again! 

So I am sure this problem is caused by higher security settings or maybe by antivirus or adware programs?. Maybe it's the ads or something on that page that causes this problem? Maybe they changed something? I dont know? But if you have to have your ie then you've got to lower your security settings.

I've spent few hours running the anti virus programs, etc. etc. It has Nothing to do with viruses, at least not in my case!

Try my way and see if it works? I have to say that the effect is not immediate. Maybe you have to refresh page or close your browser and reopen it  or log off or restart the computer for the changes to take effect?

Hi having same problem 27th July 2016 (and 26th July 2016) help!!!!! I really need to access emails. Try all suggests, help.

I have been having this problem for over a week now (today is 7-26-2016).  It appears that problems similar to this have happened for years.  With me, it started in Chrome.  I cleared the cache.  I have scanned the computer (several times with different products).  It worked in Chrome on a different computer and on my ipad app.  I was able to open Outlook in Opera web browser - it worked for 5 days.  Now it has the same message.  I AM able to log in to the One Drive (so far).  I now have Outlook open in Edge.  But how long is that going to work?  I don't generally use Edge/Explorer.  (It is really clunky now).  

I don't look forward to it - but my only answer might be to change to a different email system.  

Would appreciate figuring out what is going on.
