Hello -

When I attempt to add my outlook.com email account to any iOS device I recieve the error "Unable to verify account information".

I see this problem on my iPhone 4s and iPad and all devices are running iOS5.01 with no additional updates available.

I followed these steps to setup my account

-settings, add new mail account

-selected Hotmail

-entered my outlook.com address (full SMTP address - eg ******@outlook.com) and my password

-after several seconds I recieve the error "Unable to verify account information"

Power cycling the devices doesn't help.  Everything works fine from the web.

Any ideas?

sign in to what account on the web browser?

Just upgraded to iOS8.0.1 and had exactly the problem described. I went into Outlook through a browser, disabled my phone and turned off 2 step security and boom... It worked just like you said. MICROSOFT - you need to fix the bug!!!

    Hello,

Thank you for posting back and sorry for the late response. I've checked your account and verified that everything is working fine on our end. If you want to sync your contacts, calendars and emails to your device, the best configuration settings that you need to use is EAS (Exchange Active Sync). EAS configuration will automatically sync all that information.

To setup your account as EAS on your iPhone device, refer to the steps below to remedy this issue:

    1. Restart your device to refresh the system.
    2. Tap Settings, and then tap Mail, Contacts, Calendar.
    3. Tap Add Account in the Accounts page.
    4. Select Outlook.com or Hotmail (selecting this option will automatically connect your account as EAS on your device)
    5. Enter your address and password.
    6. Select the fields that you want to sync. Tap Save.

In case the issue still persists another way to resolve the issue to download Outlook app and installed on your device. To know how, take time to read this Microsoft article: **Mobile Outlook.com**.

Should you have other questions or any other concerns, please reply to this thread and we will be happy to further assist you.
