Hello,
I see where several ideas have been proposed, but none seem to work for me. I have an iPhone 6s and recently updated to iOS version 10. Soon thereafter I started being prompted for my Hotmail password. As it continued occurring over several days, I started
looking for answers online. Someone suggested downgrading the OS on the phone, so I am now back at iOS 9.3; yet the problem continues.
I already had 2-factor authentication turned on, so when I found the forum mentioning the Authenticator App, I downloaded it to the phone and set it up on my Hotmail account. But I was still getting the prompts for the password.
I have since removed the Hotmail account from the phone's settings and tried re-adding it several times.
I then removed all devices from the App Password generator using a PC browser. I then turned off 2-factor authentication.
Rebooted the phone several times.
Waited 24 hours in case the Hotmail account needed it when removing the authentication method.
I've also changed my Hotmail password.
And I removed the additional email account from the Settings for my work which uses the type of Exchange, just in case Hotmail wanted to be listed first.
I also set up the 2-factor authentication again and set back up the App Password.
Still no luck. I am still prompted for the password.
Does anyone have another suggestion I can try? I do
not want to use Safari or the Outlook app. I've used the iPhone's provided Mail app for several years and would prefer to get this working the way it was rather than having to use something else entirely.
Thanks in advance for any possible help.
