Hello Everyone,

I can understand that you all want to switch back to the Hotmail interface after it has been automatically upgraded to Outlook. However, just like what the previous moderators have said, the option to switch back to Hotmail is no longer available once your account has been automatically upgraded. All Hotmail users will eventually be upgraded to Outlook.com and users who were upgraded automatically were sent notification messages concerning the upcoming upgrade.

In addition to that, I would like to inform you that Microsoft is upgrading its systems in order to serve everyone better. The new Outlook.com UI is the upgrade for the email system and it has a similar user interface with Windows 8. This has been done by Microsoft in order to cope up with the neverending changes and upgrades in the cyberworld.

We also appreciate all of the feedback that has been provided in this thread. If you want to submit a feedback for things that needs to be improved in the new Outlook.com, kindly refer to Denise_T.'s post here for the link to our feedback page.

You can refer to the articles below to know more about Outlook.com:

I will now be locking this thread.

Thank you.

Luckily I solved the problem by clicking "Hotmail" at the top of the mail page as I believe I wrote shortly after my original post.. I use IE8 as my browser so I hardly think this is old. I also never opted into Outlook as I don't like that mail program at all so I didn't have a problem getting out of it.  Anyway, so far, so good. I still have my old Hotmail layout.

    Hi tek360,

Please also be informed that if you are using older browsers when opting-in to Outlook.com, then you may get a broken experience and will not be able to opt-out back to Hotmail.com.

The solution is to force opt-out using this URL:

    http://mail.live.com/default.aspx?moptout=true

    Thanks!
