Outlook.com sent items show sender not recipient - how can I change the display setting

When viewing sent items on outlook.com the items are displayed in a list with the sender name (my name) showing - rather than a list of the recipients. How can I change it to show the recipients. Currently to remember who an email was sent to I have to open it.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Lanie, a Senior Support Analyst for Microsoft and I am part of Hotmail/Outlook.com Support Escalations Team investigating this case.

We would like to apologize for the delayed response and for the inconvenience that the issue has caused you.

You have reported that your name appears in the recipient’s column instead of the email recipient’s name/address when viewing your sent items using a web browser.

Here are the reasons why this is happening:

  1. If you are using an email client such as Windows Live Mail or Outlook client when sending an email.
  2. If you are importing emails from a third party email account (e.g. Gmail, Yahoo! mail etc.) to your Hotmail/Outlook.com account using TrueSwitch or POP settings, emails from the sent items folder will show your name in recipient’s column.

We understand that you don't want this behavior and you want everything to be synchronized like showing email recipients name in the sent items folder instead of your names when using a web browser. This behavior of Hotmail/Outlook.com is by design. But, we will be taking this concern as a feature request. We appreciate your feedback regarding our product.

    Everyone,

    This is indeed a limitation of the Outlook Hotmail Connector. As many of you have already found, there are some workarounds that can be used.

    A new article was published to help others that are searching for information regarding this issue.

    This issue does not affect Outlook 2013 as it natively supports Exchange ActiveSync (EAS).

    Exactly.

    Nonetheless, if you access your outlook.com account with Outlook (the client), or, with any mail client, for that matter, it will display the sent folder correctly. So it's not that it is impossible, it's just there's a glitch somewhere in the 'matrix'.

    This week I attempted to move over to Outlook.com and had this same problem.  Spent hours trying different fixes and ultimately came across this thread.  Not encouraging.

    Seems as if the MS people just don't get what's happening but it's simple to replicate problem.  It'll literally take me longer to type this description than actually do it.

    1- set up a Gmail account (******@gmail.com)

    2 - send 2 emails to ******@sample.com and ******@sample.com

    2- set up an Outlook.com account.

    3- Add the Gmail Account to Outlook.com.

    4- 2 emails will be transferred to Outlook.com via POP

    5-  Gmails Inbox and Sent folders are grouped together in the move and end up in the new "gmail inbox folder" created in Outlook.com so move the two emails into the "Sent" folder (where they belong)

    When you the look at the sent folder it should read

    Tim   11:45

    Text from email to Tim

    Joe  11:46

    Text from Email To Joe

    Instead it reads

    My Name  11:45

    Text From Email to Tim

    My Name  11:46

    Text from Email to Joe
