I'm in the UK and also had this 'Microsoft bogus' email for the first today which caused me some panic

until I found this forum and other related sites on the net.

Logging into my http://account.live.com account I can see that my profile was 'changed' by

    65.55.52.40

a Microsoft Corporation Server in Seattle at the exact same time I logged on.

I can't see any profile changes at all however in the account.

In addition to my Windows 8.1 laptop I've now got a Windows 8.1 smartphone (Nokia 630) which is also using my Microsoft account details and accessing hotmail (I've only had it a couple of weeks) - I wonder if this has something to do with the 'bogus' email ?

To put my mind at ease I'd like to see a Microsoft reply in this forum along the lines of ...

"Due to an internal configuration error within Microsoft, certain hotmail users may be receiving 'Profile Changed' warning emails with the IP address of the change being a Microsoft Seattle registered server address, even though no profile details have been modified on the account.

Microsoft engineers are currently working on a solution to this issue; until this is resolved please check your account for each 'Profile changed' email received and verify that it is an erroneous warning originating from one of the domain 65.55.52 servers based in Seattle"

    Hi,

Thank you for reporting that matter.

As what my other co-moderators mentioned, this type of issue shouldn't be discussed publicly. I understand how inconvenience it could be however, there is a proper team who can best address and provide correct information about it.

Please submit a private support request to the link provided by my colleague. I appreciate your understanding.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

This is the exact same issue I had. Different names on different Microsoft products and I received an email stating my info was changed. This originally caused me to panic but it seems like Microsoft has tried to sync all my accounts with the same name.

    Hi LynHartley,

Thank you for posting your concern here at the Microsoft Community.

The nature of the issue may contain personal or sensitive information of your account that can't be discussed in the forum, I suggest that this be addressed through a secured environment for your privacy and ease of access to our moderator's reply. To get additional help from Microsoft team you can submit a ticket via this ***link***.

We are looking forward to your ticket submission.

    Regards.

I really don't want to be rude here but every forum moderator response I've seen so far indicates a complete lack of understanding of the issue and a tick box answer. It isn't about personal information as such, it's about a process that is clearly going wrong within your system and as someone who has now changed his password 3 times because of these bogus messages (I'm not noting any changes in my profile), I'm getting a little frustrated with it.

Get a grip, stop just cutting and pasting 'answer 27' into the forum and give us some straight answers!
