I am receiving continuos emails from microsoft saying that lost connection to google account, everytime I reconnect after about 10 min microsoft lost connection again and I receive another email.

Is the problem some config in google account or changes in google services?

Is the problem some config in  microsoft account security?

Note: When reconnecting, the permission asked by google is only offline access.

Is there actually any progress on this issue. Seems like a lot of people are having it and repeating the same assumptions and fixes that have been already declared to not be the case or to not work will not get us anywhere

    To be clear

    • I get this issue. I see the emails periodically although I had about 4 over the weekend, which is more than normal
    • I do not change the Gmail or the Outlook settings. Obviously people here know when they should see the disconnection email. People here are saying that they are seeing it when they shouldn't.
    • Adding and removing the Google account permissions do not stop the problem

Just throwing it out there. I have noticed a few people say that they have windows phones. I have a windows phone. Could this be a common theme?

    Hi Dhenz,

I didn't change my Google password nor my privacy settings. and I didn't setup my Google account as a send-and-receive account (I make Gmail forward my emails to my Outlook.com address), so I don't see that notification.

    Regards,

    Thomas

    Hello Thomas,

    Thank you for that  information.

Actually, this issue usually occur once you've changed your password on Google or changed the Google privacy settings in a way that broke the connection. As you will also notice in the "Your email account" settings, you will see a notification "This account cannot currently receive email. Click Details for more info." if the Gmail account has been added as a Send-and-receive account.

Once you've clicked the Details and entered the correct Gmail password, everything will work fine and you shouldn't be able to receive any email notification from Microsoft about reconnecting to Google.

Please be reminded that Microsoft will only send an email notification once our system noticed any changes on your third party email account.

Should you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

I've been having this issue for several weeks now; it happens every few days, sometimes twice a day.

This is probably related to how MS is handling OAuth access token; I suspect that when it expires, instead of using the refresh token to get a new one, they go through the whole authorization phase again.

On the other hand, given how Google does everything it can to bother MS and MS users, I wouldn't be surprised that they voluntarily revoke Microsoft's access tokens every now and then...
