Outlook for Mac Does Not Work on OS X 10.10 (Yosemite Public Beta)

Outlook launches without a Home Screen.

Menu Items are accessible and function properly (i.e. compose and send email, access Accounts etc.).

However, Home Screen does not render and you cannot see (or access) Mailboxes, Calendar, Contacts etc.

Appreciate that this is an issue with Public Beta Version but Apple has now issued this to One Million Mac Users and plenty of Microsoft Users rely on Outlook for Mac so, will need to be resolved.

    Hi,

Any progress in solving the problem?

I have a solution that works for me :-)

1, Start Outlook, and the main window will not open

2, Start Activity Monitor and kill the Microsoft Database Daemon

3, Go back to Outlook, and now the main window will open

4, Put the text "Microsoft Database Daemon" in the Spotlight, find it and start it

    /Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Office/Microsoft Database Daemon.app

Now you will have Outlook working until next time you have to restart the Mac

    Regards

It may be a good idea to use Outlook Web App instead in the mean time.

Yea I accidentally quit today and went through process again and it was back up and running. But don't want to temp fate so will hopefully not have to quit, reboot or have a crash. Very surprised this issue hasn't been addressed, but I figure it's on a long list of bugs at this point.

Definitely don't suggest anyone trying Yosemite if Outlook is your mainstay like it is for me.  :)

wow! a solution at last that works! can't believe apple didn't know there was a problem with this.

    thank you very much.

i would love to know how you figured that out. clearly it wasn't intuitive.

    thanks again.

    >> well, I got the first part from a MacRumors board, which was suggesting to rebuild it. I figured out the rest by trial and error.

This is the process that worked for me. Make sure you don't quit app. I did, so had to redo this process and back up and running.

    -Close Outlook

    -Delete com.microsoft.Outlook.plist  from  HD/Users/user/Library/Preferences

    -Go to documents/microsoft user data/

    -Save Main Identity

-delete the folder Microsoft 2011 Identities

    -reboot

    -restart Outlook

    -Close Outlook

-delete the folder Microsoft 2011 Identities

    -Delete com.microsoft.Outlook.plist  from  HD/Users/user/Library/Preferences

    -reboot

-Copy Main Identity back into Microsoft 2011 Identities

while this did work and i appreciate that very much, your admonishment to not quit the app is all too true as the problem recurs necessitating the need to repeat this. therefore, can't shut down the computer or even restart.

anyone have a more permanent fix?
