How to merge 2 Microsoft accounts?

Hello,

I created a Outlook email account and I have a other outlook email address that used to be a Hotmail address. Before I knew that you can rename a Outlook account I created another account with the same name. Is it possible to merge the two accounts.

    Thanks Brian.  I have decided since I'm not "deep" into files yet, I am going to close one account.  I'm not a tech person and I just want things SIMPLE.  lol.  Add my Android smart phone to the mix and all the Google tracking, I would almost like to go back to pencil and paper.

    Microsoft tells me I have to wait 60 days and then I can take the original email as an alias in the account I keep.  Only doing this because I need to stop using the original email address and somehow I had already opened the second account without knowing the facts.

    You can't merge accounts. You can manually export contacts from one account and import them into the other. You can transfer the mail from one account to the other using a mail client that allows two-way connections to the mailboxes. You can export the calendar of one as an ICS file and import it into the other, but you can't merge them otherwise.

    Here it is December 2016 and I still need to merge two Microsoft Accounts....  No one has given a clear answer.

    Ok, but what are we suposed to do? I think there are many of us sitting out in the dar without knowing what to do so we can have only one account? I have purchase sw and apps in both accounts and don't want to loose all of my purchases.

    Back in April 2013 when Leilani posted, linked account existed and the page was available. Linked accounts were eliminated back in June of 2013.
