How do I merge my Live.com and outlook.com account into one

I have a windows Live ID and just signed up for a new outlook.com account.  I'd like to move/merge my Live.com into the Outlook.com account, but I just see am option to add another email account or Link anither account.

All this does is create two seperate identities to switch back and forth.  If Outlook.com is the new way things are going then I'd want to just manage the one address.  Can't lose emails, calender, contacts already in Live ID account.  Thanks

Use two browsers, [this procedure has risk of losing your id and is not officially supported procedure]

Browser 1

  1. Login to hotmail/msn/live (where you want to grab)
  2. Go to renames page or alias (whichever you like)
  3. Type in outlook.com address that you want to transfer (do not accept yet)

Now you're ready to grab it

Browser 2

  1. Login with your outlook address (that you want to grab)
  2. Rename this account to your gmail account (this will change your @outlook.com to alias)
  3. Login with gmail, confirm through verification mail
  4. Go to accounts page and close the account (enter password)

This is will drop your alias and make it available for a grab

Browser 1

4.  Try grab, if it says already in use. Hit it again. It takes few seconds to release the ID.

    Hi, that stated reason is completely illogical and, to be perfectly frank, it's utter b****x!

    A linked account might be accessed and used by a hacker who got into the other, but they would not be able to alter anything in that linked account without knowing the password to it, and I would still be able to log into it (so long as I could remember that password.)

    An alias, which is part of ONE account and cannot be separated by a separate password is FAR LESS SECURE.

    If I replace my original 2nd account with an alias and someone gets access to my account I will have lost the whole lot instead of still having access to one account.

    This makes my account far MORE vulnerable and not less so, and only Microsoft could believe that such a ridiculous excuse for removing a valuable facility would be accepted by anyone.

    You also have failed to answer the question of when we will see any actual upgrades in this change in name to Outlook?

    So far it is harder to add photos to the skydrive and email them in outlook than it was in hotmail, It's also harder to add attachments. So hard, in fact that I gave up sending them. There's no attachment button ANYWHERE that I can find.

    The emails themselves are now structured in such a way that I keep forgetting to add the subject line because I can't see a box in which to type because they put the TITLE in the box so I forget it's there.

    Ditto the blasted message area itself. WHY hide the box in which you're supposed to type? It's stupid!

    Microsoft downgraded this program and called it an upgrade. and absolutely nothing at all has improved.

    Fine, don't link, MERGE them. That IS the subject of this thread. Merge one with the other and delete one, or merge them in to a new account and kill the old ones. I don't care. I am sick of having to keep track of two separate Microsoft accounts:

    Outlook.com Account

    Bing Rewards

    Outlook.com Email

    O365 Syncs

    Live.com Account

    Xbox Live

    Skype

    Bing Rewards (signed up by accident here)

    I sincerely apologize for not being able to answer your concern in a timely manner.

    Like my colleagues said, linking two accounts is already been discontinued to protect your account because once one account of the linked account was hacked, the hacker can hacked the other one as well.
