How do I merge my Live.com and outlook.com account into one

I have a windows Live ID and just signed up for a new outlook.com account.  I'd like to move/merge my Live.com into the Outlook.com account, but I just see am option to add another email account or Link anither account.

All this does is create two seperate identities to switch back and forth.  If Outlook.com is the new way things are going then I'd want to just manage the one address.  Can't lose emails, calender, contacts already in Live ID account.  Thanks

Use two browsers, [this procedure has risk of losing your id and is not officially supported procedure]

Browser 1

  1. Login to hotmail/msn/live (where you want to grab)
  2. Go to renames page or alias (whichever you like)
  3. Type in outlook.com address that you want to transfer (do not accept yet)

Now you're ready to grab it

Browser 2

  1. Login with your outlook address (that you want to grab)
  2. Rename this account to your gmail account (this will change your @outlook.com to alias)
  3. Login with gmail, confirm through verification mail
  4. Go to accounts page and close the account (enter password)

This is will drop your alias and make it available for a grab

Browser 1

4.  Try grab, if it says already in use. Hit it again. It takes few seconds to release the ID.

    Hi,

    All emails sent using the added account to **"you can send emails from these accounts"**settings will show the [original address plus on behalf of your added****email address]. That's the reason why your recipients are seeing your email address like the one stated. Go to Options then select Your email accounts.

    In addition, did you rename your account to an Outlook.com email addess or simply upgraded your Hotmail to Outlook interface?

    The problem is that I did not WANT or ask for a windows live/Microsoft address or ID originally- but it seemed the only way to get onto windows live email.

    Then when I upgraded to windows 8 the prompts were to upgrade to an "outlook email" - which I did. I log on to outlook web based mail - and my address is @live.co.uk.... however when sending an email recently from another website link - the mail box opened up for WINDOWS LIVE which I thought would have been deleted (there is no icon but I can see that a search will reveal old emails are still held and can open up this programme!

    Its confusing because its not Hotmail - its a live.co.uk address (which I still don't want and its annoying when your email goes out showing sent on behalf of the live.co.uk address...)

    Can I safely DELETE the windows live mail programme and keep outlook WBA - or can I DELETE outlook option and revert back to using windows live? I didn't have many problems with windows live but outlook does not always receive the messages or tells me that outlook has stiopped working, problem retrieving messages etc....

    nightmare!

    Hi,

    Please be informed that merging accounts is not available and was not part of the recent update at Outlook.com. We don't have any information if an update for merging accounts will be considered and if it is going to be considered, we cannot provide any time frame for it.

    Anyway, hearing useful suggestions like this will be very much appreciated. If you have time, please let your voice be heard by posting the suggestion on this link.
