Some sent emails are stuck in OUtbox of Outlook.com android mobile app

I just found out why I haven't getting replies to some of my emails:  many of my sent emails over the past few weeks are sitting in my Outbox.  This would be in my Outlook.com mobile app on android.  I see no way to get them out of the outbox and sent.  not syncing or any other option available.  I am getting a message that I haven't been connected in a while, but that doesn't explain why I keep getting emails in my Inbox, and why only some emails don't get sent, and some emails are still in the outbox that are over two weeks old.

What should I do?  This is incredibly bad, if you think about it.   Do I move off of the Hotmail platform because it is proving to be unreliable?

I think I found the answer for my Droid.  The messages that pile up in the outbox are the ones that required a download of some attachment (photo, text, doc, etc) prior to sending.  If I forced the email in my inbox to fully load prior to forwarding or replying it sent just fine.  If it said that an attachment will be downloaded prior to sending it failed.

    Hello,  it is now July 22nd 2016 and the same problem still exists. I didn't discover for weeks that emails  weren't sending from my new Galaxy A3 6 phone. Some Of my friends must think I'm quite rude! Deleting old Outbox messages Did not work, but thankfully Gmail does send. So now I will have to retrain myself to click on the Gmail tab on my phone, AS MICROSOFT ARE UNABLE TO FIX THIS GLITCH. 

    WHY IS THERE A DELAY IN TYPING ON HERE? ?

    I USED TO LOVE hotmail but Outlook is way too cumbersome and faulty.
