someone DOES have the same hotmail email address as me, this is a security issue

hi, someone definitely has the same Hotmail email address as me. I have had this address for years. then a few months ago I started receiving information from ebay that was meant for this person. I contacted ebay and they asked this person to change her email which she must of done because I do not receive mail from ebay that's is not intended for me now.  yesterday I received a email from a energy company with this persons name and and energy account  number. I am worried she may be receiving my emails and this may be a security issue? what should I do please.?

    You can see the private message are by clicking Private Messages tab across **All Replies.**It is just below the title of this thread. Remember that you need to be signed in to the Microsoft Community for you to see it.

    I believe im sharing the same email address as another. But I don't buy your,, this is impossible speech !  I was not hacked. this other person has never tried to benefit from me. I don't even think she knows about this. as it took me almost 7 years to find out tonight.

    And all I wanted to do was contact outlook to find out if we are sharing the same address. But that seems to be a mission impossible. Now I find myself here reading all this **** about how it can never happen , and your basicly telling people to just delete the messages like that's going to fix it. And to reset the password. If one is sharing the same email then both can just keep resetting passwords. Do you know how I know this ? Because we both keep doing it to the sites we are both visiting !

    Troy, you may find some useful tips in this thread to help identify the problem.

    Firstly, do you think that someone else has access to your hotmail/live/outlook.com email account? If so, look at the information to see where your account has been access from and yes... change your password.

    If someone is using your email address on other websites, then it isn't as straightforward to stop. Most websites will ask people to confirm an email address that is provided, so as long as you don't reply to those confirmation emails, you are fine. Of course, that doesn't stop the other person writing your email down wherever that like.

    Have you checked email forwarding for your account?
