hi, someone definitely has the same Hotmail email address as me. I have had this address for years. then a few months ago I started receiving information from ebay that was meant for this person. I contacted ebay and they asked this person to change her email which she must of done because I do not receive mail from ebay that's is not intended for me now. yesterday I received a email from a energy company with this persons name and and energy account number. I am worried she may be receiving my emails and this may be a security issue? what should I do please.?

I'm a little confused - which one of you has the ability to send emails from outlook.com?
If you say both of you, then changing your password should prevent him from gaining access to your outlook.com account and sending email?

Welcome to Microsoft Community. First off, we apologize for the delayed response.
I understand that you are receiving someone's email sent to your own account and thinking that someone has the same email address as yours. Let me assist you with this.
As what my colleague mentioned on this thread, all Microsoft accounts are unique and can never
be duplicated. There's a possibility that you are using a recycled account due to inactivity issue. Once the account has been inactive, Microsoft account will be deleted permanently and would be available for registration of new users. That doesn't mean that someone is also accessing your own account.

I don't want to sound ungrateful, but instead of repeating that how impossible this situation is, would be nice if someone actually would check into this and see that my email address have two owners, thanks
for the unique Microsoft account which never can be duplicated.... according to Microsoft anyway

Attila, if I go back to my previous question - do you have any reason to suspect that this other person has access to your account? For example, are they sending emails from your account?
If you are only receiving emails intended for him, then this is quite a different matter.
Recently I was getting notifications from Facebook, that I have opened a Facebook account with my email address and getting a bunch of friend request from people I don't know.
I actually logged into Facebook with my SHARED email address, since I didn't know the password asked for a reset code which was delivered to the shared email address and checked out who is the other Attila Gombos ..... this person lives in Hungary which I have known for a while, and he had a legit Facebook account. I have also received numerous emails even from his girlfriend and bank statements not to mention a bunch of job applications etc. Since I have asked his girlfriend and also his bank, to notify him about this situation which either he doesn't care or never done anything to correct it, I have deleted his Facebook account yesterday, with a hope this will get someone's attention.
