someone DOES have the same hotmail email address as me, this is a security issue

hi, someone definitely has the same Hotmail email address as me. I have had this address for years. then a few months ago I started receiving information from ebay that was meant for this person. I contacted ebay and they asked this person to change her email which she must of done because I do not receive mail from ebay that's is not intended for me now.  yesterday I received a email from a energy company with this persons name and and energy account  number. I am worried she may be receiving my emails and this may be a security issue? what should I do please.?

    Hi

    I keep on receiving email from somebody who has got the same email address than me .  Everything is in Spanish.  I also noticed that when I do online shoppings, I do no longer get my confirmation and might go to this other person somewhere in South America.

    What do I need to do? , I am planning to close the account but I have got loads of private information which need to be exported. Is it possible to export all my folders to my other account?

    I do not longer which to use this email address but it is a nuisance to try to sort out everything.

     I am having this problem where someone is sending me spam from my own email address.  I have had my email address since hte year 2000 and it has never been lapsed or disused! So why has someone else ben allowed MY address. When I try to delete it a pop up warns me 'this is your won email address' NO help available to sort it out - help desks run me around in circles. I see from these pages it is a common problem,, so why hasn't Microsoft or Outlook sorted it?

    Generally you can't trust that an email actually comes from the person listed as the sender. It is very easy for someone to send an email pretending to be someone else, so this looks  to be what is happening in your case.

    This has nothing to do with Microsoft so that is why they won't fix it.

    The system will simply not allow 2 people to have/use the same email address.  I supect either they have mis typed their email address or are spammer who often "spoof" (fake) the email address.

    1. Some one may have "spoofed" your email address.

    WOW! this was 2 years ago and I am having this same problem as hubba_bubba62

    now un June 2016 and STILL nothing has been done at 'head office' to fix it.
