i cant sign in

Hi,

With the warning that a reset will delete AutoComplete data, such as passwords (do you have those backed up?) and you will have to reinstall or re-enable browser add-ons, use the Reset IE Settings button in Internet Options> Advanced.

What a reset of IE settings will do:

Windows Vista Help- Reset Internet Explorer settings:

Anyway I am too experiencing issues with the Hotmail account

I have managed to get in today for the first time since unaware that there had even been any changes to it with this merger upgrade thing.

I discovered to my surprise that there is only one message in the Inbox which is from Outlook themselves introducing it that won't take any replies.  It seems to have nothing else stored anywhere else at all-no history or previous messages when I had left them before.

    Hi,

    Sorry for slow response.

Is it possible that there hasn't been a login, via the web, for a year? The account may have been cleared out due to inactivity.

See the post by JMH3143 at http://answers.microsoft.com/message/7bea7ad1-983d-4057-a57c-e05f36e357d1?threadId=4e1e4534-3d1a-44f7-9efe-d15e171abe36

The only possible solutions that come to mind are to

    1. check the Deleted folder

    and

    1. select Deleted then look at the bottom of the page for

"Lost a message? When you recover deleted messages..."

    Hi Don

Sorry for my very slow reply but Yes your response and advice was helpful but I managed to get around it and move forwards eventually that night anyway in the end thanks.

Yes you were right - we had not used the account in question for some time which is what obviously caused this but I have not yet tried to recover the rest via your method suggested or any other as of yet but will take note now and have a go no doubt the next time that I either get my laptop back (that is if it comes back from my Insurers at all the 3rd time for repair since it went off for 1 small simple issue which led to another large unexplained more complex issue that may now lead to them having to replace it or give me money to the value of!?) I cannot even use my Smartphone Net as that now has an issue where I cannot get into 1 of my email accounts messages within the Inbox - it just freezes and this too has been another ongoing issue where I keep sending it back to Vodafone who probably just do a major Reset and then send it back with the same old message about how most people have issues with their phones because they do not shut down the Windows opened of an Internet site when finished and keep their Apps Updated regularly which I have been making every effort to do since the 1st time they informed me of this but it still happens irrespectively and they keep replying and wiping my phone or so it seems with the same old same old!?! I am supposed to get a replacement brand new handset if it happens 3 times in a row within 3 months which it should be this time (4th) around!? Anyway I seem to have digressed somewhat so I will continue to take notes on your original advice now as I sit in the local YMCA on their public free PCs here in sunny Guildford in Surrey!

I just wanted you to know that I really appreciate your help and did take notice of it!

    Thanks

    Natalie

PS I will come back to you when I try this and if I find it still does not recover the Lost emails in both Inbox that I never personally deleted (that I do know for a fact) yet I do know that originally if you did not use your account for at least 3 months it used to be - they used to wipe them entirely I seem to remember and then that may have graduated to a whole year to now be replaced with just simply deleting all your messages perhaps!? I guess that I have to be grateful for it still existing full stop or just accept that its my fault in the 1st place for the fact that I should have done something with the old messages if they were that valuable etc. to me!?

Also Did I ask you anything further about the lovely Tabby long-haired kitty with your Username details?  Is it your cat? If so what is his/her name? I seem to remember telling you that I have a short-haired Tabby called Thomas.

Anyway gotta go and be the Easter Bunny  - deliver some eggs to my nephew and Step-Nephew (if such a term exists!?)

    Happy Easter!

    Natalie
